The N95 mask is recommended by the CDC, I will take their recommendation over yours. The N95 standard mask is better than the surgical masks.

The science behind it is in this video if you are interested.

Thanks for the video! I'm just thinking logically. If the Wuhan Virus is 0.1 microns, and the N95 mask blocks as little as 0.3 microns; 0.1 is smaller than 0.3, no?

It is both foolish and impossible to separate the pandemic from the government's response to it. Let's be real. The number of people dead and sick is tied directly to what goes on in dc.
Lol. Someone asks how is this political and not one page of comments before someone trying to argue how a biological disaster and the response to it are DIRECTLY tied to DC. I guess the author of this article knew the Macrumors audience - too many of you see poltics in everything.

And for those of us who just want us all to succeed on this together instead of splitting into teams - great job Apple. Hospitals need more masks.

Why should we be relying on a foreign country to give us heads up on this? That’s what the US intelligence community is for.
Why shoos we accept a foreign country covering the affected of a deadly virus up? You think it was ok for them to hold back the virus samples so foreign countries couldn’t research it? It was ok for them to be saying “It’s not so bad. Nothing to see here.”
If this was the other way round I almost guarantee you’d be bashing the US. Lol

The masks of course wouldn’t be 100% effective. But they’d help prevent infection from droplets expelled by others with the infection. Those virus-containing droplets are much larger.

We don’t seem to be sure whether infection by smaller virus-containing particles - aerosols that can remain airborne much longer - is a main means of transmission. Masks would presumably be less effective against those smaller particles.

At any rate, the size of the viruses themselves isn‘t so much the issue. What matters is the size of the vessel carrying the viruses.

It's not an argument. It's a fact. Convince yourself otherwise if you want. But that doesn't make it any less a fact.
