Likewise, what Apple donates is of no concern to you. It's their money to donate (or not), not yours.
Only Apple makes it very public for marketing purposes.

Look, I buy Apple stuff because it’s reliable and well made. However, the company is as greedy and brutal as anyone else, if not more.

Any other ”mission” is just USP and storytelling, if you’re minimally objective. It’s what it is.

If supporting gay people meant paying more taxes or wages, gay people would understand sweatshops. Just an example. As long as it’s selling pride bands, it’s all fine and dandy. Maybe they’ll even donate one million and publish it everywhere!

You gotta love how donations are always ONE MILLION but prices would be 999,999 if it were the case 🤣

I’m sure they have a system to measure target audience affected per disaster and target audience potential awareness per disaster, and that way they choose their causes so they’re as popular as possible in terms of brand reputation and ROI.

It’s kind of like watching the Matrix scene when they feed the babies with great efficiency.

It is terrible this disaster. More than 150 dead. 2 dead have been found in a tree after the water subsided, the bodies were left hanging.

What I do or do not donate is of no concern to you

If you feel entitled to comment on the hypocrisy of Apple, I think it's a legitimate question to ask what your qualifications are. Did you donate is a logical question.

Always great to see companies step up and make these kinds of contributions to help those in need, whatever their motives may be. It’s worth pointing out that apple of the Steve Jobs era rarely if ever made such donations. While Steve was an amazing visionary and for so many reasons I wish he was still with us today and running the company, this is one area where Tim Cook’s Apple has made significant strides.

How sad must one be to try to make a donating company look bad here.
How sad must one be to simply dismiss it as something that can be reduced from tax.

I am happy with Apple's contribution. Not so much because the affected countries would otherwise not have had the money to help the affected people and to prevent flooding in the future. The affected countries are not poor. That is why the amount is not so important. That Apple has given is much more important than what Apple has given. It would be nice if more and more companies are willing to contribute financially to solving (and preventing) problems that a society, anywhere in the world, (will) disrupt.

It doesn't but I don't routinely parade out my donations to the public in the form of feelgood press releases to show the world how good I am

To who and what I donate is of no concern of yours nor anyone else's and my qualifications are irrelevant.

So long as Apple feels it necessary to make feelgood press releases I shall comment

Thank you Apple! Corporations need to step up and help when disaster strikes. :D
Corporations need to step up before distaster strikes. Have not seen any contribution for a dam, dike, rescue unit beforehand. Would like to though..

ain't it strange ... someone is trying to do something good for people in need and still someone else manages to find something bad in a good deed

strange new world, glad to not understand it
Do good all the time, not only when the opportunity arises.. perhaps this will help you understand.

Quite a few comments debating climate change and Apple's payment of taxes have been removed since discussion of those topics is only allowed in the Political News section. Please avoid discussing those topics in this thread.
It would be great to publish a topic about it? When apple is publishing year earnings for instance? comparing donations, earnings, taxes a recipe for a great discussion..

Of course, one could make the argument that Germany is really Central Europe. This is more of a historical quirk.
In that case he should have written “Germany and Western Europe.” instead of “Germany, Belgium and Western Europe."
