Oh I knew that argument was coming, lol. But I'm sure you get the point weather its Bose, Homepod, Klipsch, etc etc.....they are all better than the $10 tin cans sold at Wal-Mart.
Yup, and I do most of my listening on a mediocre $60 Bluetooth speaker. I'd kill for something higher grade like that for my desk, but it's not in the budget.

This is really not accurate at all. Have you used one? I bought mine for great sound and HomeKit. Both work perfectly. In terms of commands, Siri is actually considered better than both Amazon and Google. This type of comment isn't really based in fact.

Not based on facts? You kidding right? It is universally agreed upon by the tech industry that Siri is the worst of the lot. Here are some sources.

This is a signal that it is not selling very well, and Apple anticipated that they will not meet minimum order requirements from suppliers before the next generation Homepod comes out.

It’s a great sounding speaker but I have sonos equipment. 5.1 setup with the sub. It’s a little more expensive but much better sounding.
A little? The sub alone is twice the price of the HomePod lol

edit: actually with the price drop its even more than twice the price.

Well I hope the repair price has gone down as well.

The current price of standard HomePod repair is $280.

That's a comically absurd repair price if a new one is $300.

This is why I'm sticking with Google. Until the Homepod can play BBC radio stations when asked I'm not interested.
You get BBC News on demand. The other stations would be an odd thing to include since Apple Music has its own music mixes beyond any traditional radio station.

$50 off? Ha, no.

I mean, I wouldn't even buy one if the price was $50 total because I don't want a spyspeaker in my house, but it would probably be fairly priced at that.

It's too bad Apple doesn't break out sales numbers for anything any more. I'm betting this bit of silliness is selling about as well as the iPod Hi-Fi, another speaker that wasn't worth anywhere close to the idiotic $350 Apple wanted for it.

Alexa and Google can do more, that has never been a question. However, the extra superfluous things that Alexa and Google are doing are just gimmicks for the most part. The standard day to day questions that many people are using these for: timers, weather, reminders, calls, texts, etc... Siri is perfectly fine for and in a lot of cases it is better because the microphones are leaps and bounds better. That isn't to say Siri is fantastic, but its far better than it gets credit for.

Others here will list as a ‘flop’ now because Apple dropped the price. Anyone that’s experienced the HomePod, knows exactly what this speaker is capable of producing in terms of quality sound. I don’t regret purchasing mine for the Original $350 price point.

You should regret it. Why pay full price when you don’t have to? These get sold for 250-280 for a long time now.

That said all these had to be were modular. Add to a sub or HomePod sound bar for 5.1. Integrate deeply into atv. Then Apple has something because the mic picks up pretty good.

I have a pair I got for 450 and it’s ok. Just so limited. But has more potential that’ll probably never get realized as Apple probably will abandon this area.

In my home, I have an array of Sonos speaks which cost £350 for three and theyvwork in unison. And a Alexa. We never use the Alexa and the sound quality from the sonos set up is super, I don't see the value in the Apple speakers.

Likely because at the time he bought it that was the going rate. Prices drop over time. Do people who bought the iPhone 7 regret buying it because it dropped in price when the 8 came out?

I bet in 2 years these HomePods will be $150 or less. Doesn't mean it was wrong of him to pay full price when it first came out.

It was more like a month after release. It didn’t take long. At the time no stereo, even less features. eBay and others were discounting. But not a big deal. Just wish Apple was more serious (5.1 system, atv integration) but looks to abandon it all together.

Great. Closer to the price it should have been from the start. But without Bluetooth integration with non-Apple audio sources, HopePod is absolutely overpriced even at $299. It's a pity, really. Apple could have had a sale from me at $349 a few months ago when I was looking for an external speaker for my Roku TV, but Bose got my money instead. There was just no way to send audio from Roku to the HomePod without some convoluted arrangement that, ironically, Apple tries to help people avoid in the first place. I've never understood Apple's need to block everyone else out of their products. It's unnecessary and kills interest in what might be promising new ideas.

If you want an idea of how small the Apple buying market really is? One only has to look at the yearly desktop sales and fringe accessory sales such as HomePod. Those figures reveal the tiny bulk of true Apple faithful who purchase the eco system with regularity.

The rest, who number in the tens if not hundreds of millions, are phone folk only.

AFAIK you still can't integrate it into an existing non apple Sound system. I would take one for free then turn right around and sell it on Craigslist for a tidy profit.

Fringe accessory sales? Have you ever heard of AirPods?
