I agree with you but that last part? OLED is the best way to watch movies lol. I could never go back to a normal LED or MiniLED tv lol.
Hahaha, fair enough. What I was trying to get at was that further improvements in screen quality on the watch aren’t desirable to me because I’m not using it to watch movies. OLED, of course, is already great. :)

No kidding!
I'm on day 2 with my 65" OLED being used as a monitor (from a distance) ... I'm just in love

All day long, every minute, I have stunning wallpapers cycling through and I'm routinely "hiding all windows" real quick just to admire the current image ...

"Gorgeous" doesn't quite do it justice

One day Apple will finally put out some large OLED screens and the Apple RDF will finally lose their minds (in joy)..
I don't think a lot of Apple folks realize quite yet what they are missing here.

Maybe I took your comment the wrong way! Apologies.

I've had my OLED tv for 4 years now and it still impresses me. All my devices except my PC monitor and my MacBook Air have OLED. I've been thinking about getting an OLED monitor and whenever Apple bother to release an OLED Air then I'll be first in line!

Apple is slowly becoming a nightmare. The Apple that once was, no longer exists.

I'm 100% convinced that every product Apple releases from this point, will be trash.
Hahaha Jesus Christ that’s quite a take, I’m sure you’ll still buy the next iPhone and another MacBook Pro etc, but if this comment makes you feel cool then go for it I guess lol

It's just nuts that Apple hasn't done this yet

There are OLED options all over the PC laptop space ... with plenty of resolution AND high refresh rates!

(ProMotion..sorry -lol)

MicroLED is just so much more robust than OLED. Manufacturing it is the problem. But in time it will be everywhere.
Certainly manufacturing MicroLED is more costly to utilize, but I think what is more of a reason is the flexibility/versatility of current OLED technology with its incorporation into many forms of display examples. What wonderful progress we seen in the last decade with OLED with usage in bright environments.

I find this stranger than the other cancellations because the industry will likely be moving to this technology in the future regardless of Apple's inability to use it.
MicroLEDs are much more difficult to produce, and are not mass-produced yet. That's why it's "in the future".

Difficulty = lower production yields = greater unit cost. Apple will use it when it's feasible in their parameters, in the future, like everyone else.

Thats just how R&D works.

In most of the cases you fail and if you do, you reallocate those resources to other projects or you cut them partially or even entirely. Happens all the time.
True, that’s point. Others that only see surface doesn’t see how surface built or Maintained. That’s why there people that make money or don’t.

Certainly thats true… they have came a long way with longevity of the different sub pixels and efficiency gains. Peak brightness has been a huge benefit for watch and phones.

Are people that hurt Apple not giving them their toys that they expect? Products like this enhances our Lives more than just help her make our lives tasks Easier.

When Steve came back, one of the first things he did from an organizational perspective, was give Jony Ive and the Industrial Design team the most operational power after him. He essentially made Apple into a design-driven company. Under Cook's leadership, that has been undone. The majority of the original design that were there under Steve Jobs and Jony Ive have now left and the current design team now reports to Jeff Williams, an operations expert.
That's not entirely a bad thing. Jony Ive and his obsession with thinness was responsible for the butterfly keyboard, after all, and MacBook Pros that were so thin they could never effectively cool the chips they were designed around. Design may have taken a slight step back but most people agree that modern MacBook Pros are considerably more useable than the last ones Jony and crew gave us.

I hate to be one of those "grrr, Tim Cook" people, but Apple is making way too many decisions these days based purely on profitability. They're one of the most valuable companies on the planet with a huge war chest - they should not be penny pinching/corner cutting as much as they do.

I understand the potential power advantages of micro LED, but frankly, as a long time Apple Watch user I am fine without it. Glad to see Tim recognizing the risks in continuing with pouring more R&D into it and deciding to shut it down.

Considering the "product guys" almost ran Apple into the ground between the time Steve was ousted and the time they bought him back, can you really blame him? At least the "operations guy" made the company effectively "too big to fail".

Who was the product guy? Scully? Spinnler? Amelio?

None of them came from a design or a product background so I’m not sure your theory holds water.
