I ordered a customized M2 MBA with the Apple Education Discount but I want to cancel and reorder it with new specs. Since there is only 1 MacBook Air purchase per year with this discount, will I still be eligible since I am canceling and reordering? Need to know before I try to cancel and reorder. Thanks!

You might want to call and ask Apple. I can tell you my opinion on this but it’s meaningless because I don’t work for Apple. Apple could have this as your purchase and it’s not canceled till it’s finally canceled or maybe it counts as your yearly purchase either way. Call Apple and ask them. Perhaps they could even fix your order over the phone to what you wanted

Yes it is possible. I order through the education store and cancelled numerous mac studio/display/MBP orders (long story, debate about specs with relative) and was still able to make new orders.

You should be fine. This happened to me as I decided to upgrade the hard drive. I cancelled the original order and was basically immediately able to reorder the corrected configuration/discounts. No problems.

At one point however I inadvertently had two configurations in my basket and an error immediately popped up indicating only one laptop purchase per year with edu discount, please remove one item. However, as someone else mentioned above though (Post#4), it looks like you can purchase multiples as separate orders. When I just tested this and tried to place another order it basically let me with discount (although I did not click purchase). So you can also just try rebuying it first with the corrected specs and then cancel the other order after it goes thru if you are concerned.

I ended up doing this. I placed the new order, then cancelled the original one. Thank you.

This is what I did, I upgraded the hard drive. I felt uncomfortable with even the 10/256/16 because of the recent MBP slower base drives so decided to do the 10/512/16. I did not want to spend the extra cash as I didn't necessarily need more space, but I didn't see the point trying to upgrade speeds from every other angle only to feel like I still was at a loss from the hard drive speed.

Apple has a limit per type of device to get a discount?

Last year, I had multiple student discounts and back to school promotions with the same Apple ID.

  • Desktop: One (1) may be purchased per year
  • Mac mini: One (1) may be purchased per year
  • Notebook: One (1) may be purchased per year
  • iPad: Two (2) may be purchased per year
  • Accessories: Two (2) accessories with Education Pricing may be purchased per year
from their site. I don't know how strict they are and you could always make a guest account etc. anyway, but I have seen that notif in the cart that you can't get two at once

You'll be fine. You haven't paid for anything yet.

There is a pretty large subset of the population legitimately eligible. “Those eligible to purchase from the Apple Store for Education Individuals include faculty, staff, students and parents as follows….” Apple Education Sales

Kind of unrelated question but not really…when should we expect to receive the $150 gift card via email from Apple if we preordered?

All it says on my order confirmation is “Item to be emailed.”

I bought a MacBook Air and returned it within 30 days, and then ordered a MacBook Pro before the return was processed. It all went through with no issue on the education store with BTO options.

I haven't ever had an issue with education discount, and I'm kind of in a gray area as a private tutor. I was initially surprised that Apple didn't do anything to confirm my situation. But the Mac discounts have pushed me further into the Apple ecosystem with iPhones, iPads and Macs... and now Apple services and iTunes movies... so Apple knows the game they are playing here.

They probably watch for serial abusers of the system, but otherwise don't care.

Amazon will cancel your account too for serial returns/refunds. Have had a few warning emails.

this has nothing to do with returns, it's if apple will allow you to place multiple education discount orders

So many students here, or is this known loophole to get discount easily from Apple? :)

Parents, students, and home school teachers are eligible.

In other words, if you're teaching basketball to the kids in the neighborhood, you're eligible. :)

I thought that home school teachers were removed from this offer already? Anyway, if it is still there, how would one prove they are teaching like in your example above? I mean they don't just let you place the order, there must be some checks at some point where you give some proof, or is there?
