The TV app has the worst UI of any current apple product. No watch list, no way to easily go back and rewatch previous episodes or shows. Navigation is slow and cumbersome. The only app worse than the TV app is Prime (because you can't freakin' filter out all the ad-supported crap).

And I *only* want to see the content that I own. If I want to shop, I'll shop.

This is a great way to get me to buy content from other services.
Buy physical media or this will only get worse. Seriously.

The tv and movie buttons are now redundant, but you CAN’T DELETE THEM!! All I could do was move them to a folder so they wouldn’t be sitting in my face the whole time.
By “button”, I presume you mean “app”. I believe these will be auto-deleted with a future update, maybe with tvOS 17.2 or soon after.

Instead of doing this, they should separate an Apple TV+ app from the Apple TV app. The Apple TV app should just be the top layer consolidating app, but all individual content apps, like iTunes Movie, TV+, Amazon, BBC iPlayer, etc should continue to be available as individual apps since they can have a richer feature set.
Let the customer decide whether they want to use the consolidating Apple TV app, or individual apps, let the better experience win.

I don’t purchase Shows so I not sure this applies to me. I just want the Apple TV 4K box to work reliably with my subscriptions without constantly having to reboot or sign in. My Roku never has these issues.

Are they going to add Wish List to the Apple TV app? I used that constantly to keep track of shows and movies I want to rent.
So my Movies Wish List is now gone! Had quite a few movies bookmarked to rent over the next few weeks. Is it lost forever or is it hiding somewhere that I haven’t looked yet? (It’s no longer in the iTunes Store app on iOS devices)

I still don't know where to find movie trailers when they killed the good old trailers app.

Not sure where you’re coming from with that statement. I’ve bought albums, shows and movies from over a decade ago that are still in my collection. None of them have been removed. Apple is actually pretty great when it comes to media purchases.
Yep, as I said, "As long as Apple deems it profitable." I am not sure what about that is incongruent, unless someone wants to ignore reality.

…I’m in the US based store.

You need to update to the 17.2 release client before box sets appear.

There’s even a section in the new combined store in the Apple TV app that specifically for top box sets.

They also now have movie bundles listed in the store. (Again, I’m in the US Store on tvOS 17.2 on an Apple TV 4K.)

There’s a lot of things I dislike about the Apple TV app combining the tv and movies into one store front, but I was pleasantly surprised that box sets and bundles are finally available.
I can confirm this for the Apple TV apps. However, I haven't done the latest update (I'm one behind), so I still have my itunes movies, still. Before this post I was going through my wishlist and was going to buy a movie I had on there...apparently Apple no longer sells the movie I wanted. lol. Question, on the latest update, is the wishlist from iTunes Movies moved over?

I may be in the minority here, but for some time I've wondered about the repetitiveness of iTunes and Apple TV. I agree it is bad if merging the two doesn't offer all functionality of the one going way, but now that my library finally shows (despite the large catalog of items) I don't see myself going to iTunes Movie (as long as it keeps working this time). Give me one location to view my library, explore new, suggest things I may not have known to look for, and allow me to buy what I want, and I'm a happy fella. I have preferred the UX and flow of how I purchase from iTunes. So brining that over seamlessly to Apple TV app and after an adjustment period, will just be the new way we all do it.

Not that I want to give up the wonderful Movies app, but I just noticed I don’t even have the option to delete it, now that it is useless and just redirects me to the Apple TV app when I open it. Will stuff it in a folder for now and it will be missed.

We can agree to disagree. I thought the same until I started using it on a regular basis. The integration is actually quite good.

I've been hiding these in a folder since the TV app. Glad to get rid of them.

Ditto!

There is nothing wrong with the App.

The killer feature that does need to be added is to add your own categories. Instead of "action adventure", be able to add "007" or "Star Wars" or "Jason Bourne" etc... so you can consolidate and sort series films.

Well this is a dumb move. The iTunes movie app is superior to the cut down version in the TV app. It displays movie artwork in portrait format as they should be, and when you select a movie it takes you to the movie info page. The TV just plays it straight away.

I have to wonder who at Apple makes these idiotic decisions. They should probably be moved on to another department. The caffeteria perhaps. Or the car park.
