That’s fair enough. For me you can’t be too careful, others aren’t so bothered and fair play to you.

I remember someone on here a couple of years ago put up something from the courier and all of a sudden it had been messed around with. Not worth the risk IMO when you can just call Apple and tell them it over the phone.

At least it seems legit as a lot of others have had the same email. Hope it all works out :)
 
Apple would never ask you to respond to an email and provide your order number.

Since this got front page coverage on mac rumors, I would tend to believe they actually did. This messes up dogma about responding to emails. Technically they have all the information they need on Apple's own servers.

I sincerely hope you are right, for Apples sake. Bad vibes all around on this one.

Yeah we have the letters but never use numbers like that! (Not that I’ve seen anyway) wonder why it’s much better way of remembering a number.

It’s not been 3 business days but I’m not the kind of person that can just wait around. I just checked my order status and it’s now Dec 5-11. So, a week before initially promised, which is already an improvement. I wonder if it’ll change again once it’s been 3 business days.
 
Last night I was pretty bummed out going to sleep expecting to wake up to the email I did in fact receive 3 hours after the failed order telling me there was a problem verifying my information and that the order couldnt be processed.

so I prepared myself for no iPhone until 2018.

Then this evening around 6:45 pst I received this same email, immediately placed the order the same way I tried to last night and everything went through. I replied to the email with my order number.

So either Apple wins the best customer service EVER award for hunting us out and giving us an opportunity OR they got me hook line and sinker with a cyrpitic email that just eludes to prepping my order for nov 3 delivery and I’ll get it mid December. Hopeing for the latter! Will update if I receive official word that my delivery date has been changed from the mid December window.


Well I received an email telling me to check my order status in 3 business days. This morning my delivery date was 12/11 and now it’s back to ny original estimated arrival of 11/3.

I’m impressed with apples customer service on this one.

6:55 pm- replied with my order number

9:35 am- received email from Apple to check online order status in 3 business days

Sometime around 11 am- checked anyways because I’m impatient and it’s only the touch of an icon. Delivery date still 12/11.

5:05 pm - checked again.... like I said I’m impatient. And saw the delivery status changed back to my original estimated arrival date of 11/3

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

My order has been updated to Nov. 3 delivery as well!!!! I am totally speechless. Apple is a global center of excellence for customer service!

8:30 PM - Apple action required email received

10:26 PM - Opened up the App Store app and placed a new order using the IUP 256GB Silver. 5-6 weeks shipping. December 11 delivery

10:30 PM - Replied to Apple with my order number

3:28 PM - received email from Apple that they received my email and to check online order status in 3 business days.

9:30 PM - checked order status after reading this thread’s update - delivery status changed to Nov. 3!


Will return my AT&T order. So glad I won’t be locked in with ATT Next for eternity and won’t have to pay for Apple Care up front.

In the US, phone buttons have numbers and letters (2ABC, 3DEF, 4GHI, etc.), I think you would have the same thing. The point of 1-800-MY APPLE, it's easy to remember, but the number is actually 1-800-792-8853.
Actually it's 1-800-6 (M) 9 (Y) 2 (A) 7 (P) 7 (P) 5 (L) 3 (E)
 
I received this email as well due to having problems ordering on launch night. So I reordered and replied to the email as suggested. Received the email with regards to waiting up to 3 days. I was suspicious so I called and the email was authentic. Now I'm waiting to see if they expedited my delivery date from 11 Dec, 2017 - 18 Dec, 2017 to Nov 03.
