Status? You'd forgo 2% cash back for "status?"

Yeah, I wondered about that "status" thing. WTF cares?

Did I say that? Or did both of you miss the post I made regarding double dipping, where one could possibly earn BOTH.

Instead of coming after one thing I said, you should go back and re-read what I initially stated about what if that happened:

It depends. If they keep the same PCS provider, there shouldn't be much change, as they should be able to port everyone over; however if the PCS provider changes (Mastercard to VISA), then that introduces a can of worms for everyone who is an Apple Card Holder; possibly even needing to reapply.

Exactly. That is a possibility. That would be a problem because if one's credit rating has dropped since initially getting the Apple Card, that could result in some users not getting their cards back should their credit rating not be good enough for the new provider to issue a new card.

What would also be interesting to see is if there could possibly be some double dipping done. For example, if the Apple Card goes Chase, well... Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and British Airways all use Chase for their PCS provider.. What are the odds that one could get those benefits all combined onto one card, netting the benefits from Apple Pay, along with the points/benefits from those particular airlines.. If that would work, then I could see this being a huge advantage, as GS isn't affiliated with any other service besides the Apple Card.

I was responding to this that you said upthread...

...I'm thinking less of the using the accrued miles for flights, but more for the status and access to the lounges!...

But missed the post before that when I pondered about the double dipping. That was the important part of context missing.

Basically this: If I have a SWA Rapid Rewards Visa card, I can already earn points for nearly every purchase I make with that card, with the exception of dining; that is where they have Rapid Rewards Dining, which you might not be able to use my RR Visa card for.

However, if the AC went to Chase (which SWA also uses), what would the odds be to have both the accruing of points for SWA as well as the cash back offers from the Apple Card all on the same card? Wash/rinse/repeat for UAL and BAW, as they also use Chase? To be able to earn the points and status from the airlines as well as the benefits from Apple, all with one single card?

OK, but whatever. I don't really care that much. It's not worth bickering about in any case.

Anything they do can't be worse than Goldman Sachs' abysmal customer service. I'll only use the card now to buy Apple hardware on their x-month same-as-cash deals. I have better cards for other purchases that I'll keep using.

When you travel 100k+ miles a year, skipping lines makes a HUGE difference.
The lines seem to be the least bothersome part, unless you are fighting for overhead space. It's not like you get to your destination any quicker. I can at least appreciate the lounges vs sitting in the terminal, though.

The food, lounges, showers, etc.. they all make a difference.

Do you like sitting in airports? I sure don't Status lets you enjoy lounges, showers, and sometimes even free Ubers.
Oh, give it a rest. I thought he meant something else, other than Status with a capital S.

Honestly, I didn't even know there was something called "Status."

No, skipping the lines can make ALL the difference. I flew out of Dusseldorf recently and the line to check in for non status fliers was a good 40 or more people long. I walked right up to the Priority line and checked in, not waiting one bit. Saved me an hour, easily.

Let's hope Chase is better than GS. I have 3 other CCs each with over $32K limit, and 2 more with each with over $20K limit. I maintain a balance paying off each of them before they accrue interest every month. However, the Apple Card with GS won't raise my limit beyond $5,900 after a couple of years. I would charge a lot more on the Apple Card if they would raise it to $20K. Happy to see GS go, but the savings part has been great.

Have you maxed out the card with purchases? After maxing it out with Apple purchases after a year or so my limit almost doubled.
No. I usually fill up 2/3 of it then pay it off at 0% over several months.
