I thought it was an impressive phishing mail, so I logged into iTunes connect separately using my apple ID only to be told I don't have content being distributed (I don't have digital media to distribute but might have signed up in the past for developer access, podcasts or something) so I assumed it was a mistake. hehe

Anyone else had a prompt asking them to sign in on their iPhone to update Apple ID settings?

And then when you sign in and enter a 2FA code it tells you it’s wrong?

Weirdly my iPad Pro 11” running iPad OS 16 is absolutely fine!

Yes and i never got the we apologize it was an error email so I need to update my bank so they can send me my money.

Yup, I had those too. Both on my iPhone and my Apple Watch. I rebooted both and then used my Mac to allow the login and it still failed. After several attempts, the iPhone asked me to enter my unlock code and that fixed the problem. The watch I just had to allow the login from my phone and it worked.

I got it and wondered about it. I’m ok if apple wants to send me money, though. At work I got one about changes to charges for books in the UK. Not sure why that was relevant either.

To be fair to them my banking info was incorrect, but it didn’t stop a payment. My IBAN had changed since I added my banking info and I hadn’t updated it. I logged into appstoreconnect rather than following a link given that is what used to be itunesconnect. That should have been from AppStore rather than Music though.

Looking at the email address it's been sent from, I'd say it's a phishing email.

Ah cool.

Glad to see this was an error.

I thought it was some crypto scammer in Russia, North Korea or India trying to make me tap that button and steal my computer.

Seems like support are saying it's a phishing e-mail from a chat session I just had with them which makes the apology e-mails that some people are getting a bit strange. To me seems much more likely someone has screwed up inside Apple given that the links in the e-mails appear to be genuine apple.com addresses and all the header info on the e-mails shows the e-mail originating from an Apple server although granted that could probably be faked but that then begs the question why isn't iCloud doing some kind of security check for e-mails originating from an apple.com address...

Oh no, something bad is going to happen to you if you don't immediately click this link and give us your banking information. Don't think, just do it, because bad things will happen otherwise.

I to thought, that this was a phishing mail.

Makes me wounder why even a company like Apple is not sending digitaly signed Mails. When I am able to do this, Apple should too.

I got the weird Books one. I’m not Canadian, don’t live in Canada and don’t sell/buy ebooks from Apple’s store. It’s hard to fathom how someone managed to mess up their SQL query so badly that they ended up joining random Apple accounts to their result set.

I got it too. The message I received said:

I was suspicious about it until I confirmed it was legit, then got hit with the message saying I'm not registered for iTunes Connect.
So I figured it was sent in an error, but never got a follow up email apologizing for this.
