If the Macbook Pro gets its own event what else could be revealed with it? I’m just wondering if there isn’t anything then maybe, I hope, California Streaming will be the big day.

Apple today announced that it will be holding a special event on Tuesday, September 14 at 10:00 a.m. The event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California.

As with WWDC and last year's fall events, this new event will be held digitally with no members of the media invited to attend in person. Apple will likely provide pre-taped segments for each new product that's announced.

Last year's September event focused on the Apple Watch after the iPhone was delayed until October, but this year, things are back to normal. We're expecting Apple to announce new iPhone 13 models, the Apple Watch Series 7, and possibly the AirPods 3.

New MacBook Pro models and new iPads are also on the horizon, but Apple is expected to hold multiple fall events this year so we're not likely to see everything come out in September.

Apple's iPhone 13 models will be similar to the iPhone 12 models with few design changes. Apple is planning to release a 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini, a 6.1-inch iPhone 13, a 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The general design will be the same, but we are expecting a smaller notch. There will also be some improvements to the cameras, with Apple bringing sensor-shift optical image stabilization to the whole iPhone 13 lineup, introducing a better Ultra Wide camera for the Pro models, and improving the cameras of the iPhone 13 Pro to bring it in line with the Pro Max.

A faster A15 chip is coming, along with faster 5G technology, and perhaps the biggest change might be the 120Hz ProMotion display expected for the Pro models. There have also been rumors of an always-on display, so that's a possibility, as are larger batteries and more maximum storage space. We have details on all of the rumors that we've heard about the iPhone 13 in our roundup, so check that out to see exactly what to expect.

As for the Apple Watch Series 7, we're expecting the first redesign that we've seen in years. The new Apple Watch could have a flat-edged design that better matches the iPhone models, and it could be thinner with more available display space.

A new lamination technique will bring the display closer to the front cover, and casing sizes are expected increase to 41mm and 45mm, up from 40mm and 44mm. A faster S7 chip is expected, and there could be a bigger battery, but there are no new health sensors coming this year.

Apple's manufacturing partners are reportedly having production difficulties with the new watch, so we could see a bit of a delay in availability or very tight supplies at launch.

The third-generation AirPods that are in the works are expected to have a design that's closer to the AirPods Pro, and silicone tips are a possibility.

The new AirPods will have shorter AirPods Pro-like stems, but will continue to be a more affordable option without Active Noise Cancellation.

Apple plans to stream the fall event live on its website, on YouTube, and on the Apple TV through the Apple TV app. Apple today made the YouTube livestream available ahead of the event date.

For those unable to watch, MacRumors will be providing full event coverage both on MacRumors.com and the MacRumorsLive Twitter account.

First time ever I don’t have that tingely feeling and may just wait for the recap. Not sure why I don’t feel the magic.

I'm forever looking for the day Apple releases a fully independent Apple Watch, I don't see anything on the invite that portends such a reveal.
I doubt that will ever happen even if it's technically possible. The Apple Watch is an iPhone accessories, the milk-cow. Apple's goal is for people to buy iPhones.

It's going to be a long week. And of course a lot of anticipation until the event happens.

I really shouldn't get my hopes up. Seems like I am almost always disappointed that a good rumor or two didn't happen. But it seems like most anything is possible until the announcements are made.

Am generally happy with the 12 Mini. But if it offered a decent telephoto lens and a slightly better battery, then it would be very tempting to go for the 13 Mini. Especially since it could very well be the last one we see.

I am wondering why Apple is not using a high res sensor (64MP or so) to get lossless zoom for the non-pro iPhones without having to use a separate telephoto lens. With some ML magic, I'm sure 2x is perfectly doable with these high res sensors.

I used to watch all the time. I’m tired of the over-produced videos now. I’d like to see them do it old school if possible. Not going to happen this year but I’d still like to see it.

I think it is the end goal but the bean counters need the algorithm to give a thumbs up on when an independent watch makes more coin than an Iphone tethered watch.

Also consider that the competition might create one first and Apple might be forced to follow their lead.

For some reason, I am imagining Tim Cook jumping up on stage, and Oprah Winfrey style yelling "You're a predator, you're a predator, you're a predator..." while announcing they are going ahead with CSAM in-device scanning.

I'm looking forward to the event, but my credit card will stay put. I decided to neither jump ship to Android (Samsung) nor giving Apple more money to see where this is going.
Interestingly we are 200 posts in to have the scan and privacy topic coming up...
Seems Apple just needs to show us shiny new hardware to make us forget about whatever they did before ;)

Am I the only one who just doesn't get excited when Apple release a new iPhone these days?

Undoubtedly the 13 is going to be a big seller but for me, my 11 is just fine.

I moved from yearly upgrades, to two yearly and now I am moving towards leaving three years between upgrades. Nothing in the 12 or proposed 13 makes me need to upgrade. Better camera would be handy but its not worth spending £700+ on.

You know it’s a very minute refresh when the rumor mills were excited about TouchID. IMO the 13 will be the very definition of a 12S. I’m more excited about new Apple Silicon macs.

Unless Apple pulled a “5S” and announced ARM v9 support or Apple's own custom instruction on the A15 that will pull Apple Silicon further ahead of the competitors.

When I look in the Apple logo in the announcement, doesn’t it look like an eyeglass lens? Might this be a hint to the apple glasses? 🤔👓👓👓👓👓

Looking forward to this, since the wife already hinted at an Apple Watch for her birthday.

Timing is everything, and depending on the new features I might even save some money on a refurbished one once the new ones come out.

My wife's not a power user, so even the simplest one would do.

Ok, commence the interpretation of what the design on the invite means...

this is actually my favorite part of these kinds of posts...

I see light coming from the Apple logo, so this resembles cinema projection, which means big announcements from video entertainment.

You're not alone, mate. Milking this gadget to death is the Apple way. Holding back a few features for the next few upgrades is how it has been done. Just give the hungry enough to bite on and upgrade. If it is any consolation to you, I will be replacing the battery in my industrial grade aluminium 6S monster machine for yet another year. A 60 dollar upgrade to give my phone some new gas to think it over for a while. Forking out a 1000 bucks plus for a gadget is a hard call .... in 1-2 years it will be good to upgrade in my mind.
