As rumors continue to build of upcoming Apple product updates, more hints are starting to suggest that Apple will be holding a special event in September to launch these new products.

A rumor over the weekend originating from Kevin Rose suggesting that we could see iPod Nano and iPod Touch updates in the next few weeks. A subsequent report from Rose indicated that September 9th could be the date for the launch.

While we had initially housed that rumor on our Page 2 (rss) which consolidates minor news and unverified tidbits, but an ArsTechnica article has suggested that there may be some validity to that "general date".

More possible case photos for the upcoming 4th Gen iPod Nano and 2nd Generation iPod Touch have also been posted to Page 2.

All the talk regarding this supposed event is about iPods though, not computers.

Seriously, Some of us have been waiting for the macbook pro. It better not be just ipods. Anyone know if they have ever announced both new ipods and computers at the same event? After the disaster of mobile me and iphone launch, I feel like they will want to pace themselves..

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5C1 Safari/525.20)

COME ON AIR! :D

iPod Touch with Bluetooth, Stereo Bluetooth headphones, and A2DP update with the 2.1 release.

Wouldn't that be nice.

Let's do this! The anticipation of new products and updates is building. Great time for apple, great time for us customers. Let the student promotion end, roll out the new goodies. The new cases look legit too.

I don't think Apple can wait too long before responding to the Montevina offerings of other manufacturers. Whether they choose Montevina or another (nVidia) chipset, laptop upgrades have to be coming soon. Plus there's the language that was used during Apple's recent financial results conference call, about a product transition that would affect Q4 revenue - in other words, would affect revenue before the end of September.

Official?

How has it worked in previous years? Does Apple officially announce ahead of time that they're having an event? Or do we not know for sure until the day of? I'm not sure I can last much longer without official word of new macbooks...

For those of us who are waiting for a MacBook Pro redesign, this is reminding me more and more of the time prior to the iPhone release. We anticipated a notebook refresh yet most of the rumors were about the iPhone. Now all we hear and see are iPod concepts and rumors.....doesn't look good folks but I hope I'm wrong!!!
