Apple Event for September 9th?

Yeah, another laptop is definitely what Apple does NOT need. Adding another laptop would just confuse the current, simple line. Consumer? MacBook. Prosumer? MacBook Pro. Business / Traveller? MacBook Air.

Air is good, but i'd rather something smaller, a netbook as i mentioned before.

netbook, air, tablet, macbook, MBP. for the notebook range.

a tablet, i personally dont need one, but im sure many would desire one.

I just want to see this invite or invites, - confirmed by apple ASAP, once that happens. then lets continue to speculate on the rumors. :)

If there's not new ipods soon I will be so annoyed...

My ipod broke months ago and, knowing that apple will inevitably release new ones at SOME point this year, I've basically had to endure months without music on the go - i don't know how much longer I can wait, though I do know how annoyed I'd be if I forked out for one of the current generation players and then new ones were released the next day!

Any chance we'll see either Blu-Ray drives built in (I thought I saw a rumor on the front page some time ago about this) or Blu-Ray quality? I traded my PlayStation 3 for an Xbox for various reasons, but the thing I miss most is my Blu-Ray drive. I was under the impression that digital media is the way to go (and it may very well be), but I've only bought one movie from iTunes because I'm hesitant to buy anymore because of the quality. I haven't bought any movies recently, DVD or digital because I'm holding out for the best option.

I'm hoping there's major touch price drops. It's ALMOST to the point where my parents will let me get one I think... but there's no way I would pay $500 for one, with or without their permission.

Hmm... It'd be a shame if these "iPod nano 4G" cases turned out to be cases for the 4GB 2nd Generation nano.
Would've expected the new nano to be a scaled down touch.

wow that mockup is awesome.. but while i think the new iPod will be the ugly zune like one.. it sucks if it actually happens.. (so apple please surprise us) :D:D:apple:

Each member of the iPod/iPhone family has distinct features that clearly set them apart from their peers. The heaviest overlap is between the iPod Nano and the iPod Classic and even there, the differentiation is clearly by capacity (10x-40x).

  • iPod Shuffle - very small; no screen; plays audio content only; 1GB and 2GB capacities.
  • iPod Nano - larger form factor; screen; plays audio and video content, as well as games; 4GB and 8GB capacities.
  • iPod Classic - effectively a high-capacity iPod Nano with 80GB and 160GB capacities.
  • iPod Touch - large touchscreen display in a widescreen ratio; WiFi capability; can run applications in addition to games; can surf the Internet; can send and receive email; offers mapping capability; available in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities.
  • iPhone - adds cellular voice and data capabilities to the iPod Touch; supports GPS for applications.

Has there ever been a time that Apple has announced a redesigned computer (not new) and not sold it near immediately? I'm trying to get a feel for how long I'm gonna have to wait between announcement and shipping of the new MacBooks if they are announced within the next couple of weeks.

I ask because I've been following these things for several years and can't remember. It just seems odd that Apple would cut out a month worth of laptop sales even at this time of year (end of back to school, a little before the holiday season). Especially after announcing that the September quarter would have record sales. Admittedly they cut out two months worth of iPhone sales earlier this year, but that seems a little more acceptable than cutting out a month of laptop sales. Is it wishful thinking that these things will be released immediately or within a week of announcement?

Apple cut out a month of sales on the iPhone before the 3G was released. IF new laptops are released, I imagine they won't ship until two weeks after the announcement.
