The #AppleEvent hashtag on Twitter has today been customized to include an Apple logo reflecting the orange and blue hues of Apple's "Hi, Speed" event invites.

appleevent2020_feature.jpg

According to Jane Manchun Wong's Hashflag Browser, the new Apple logo was added to the hashtag yesterday and will be active through to the day of the event itself on Tuesday, October 13.

Ahead of Apple's "Time Flies" event last month, Apple customized the #AppleEvent Twitter hashtag before announcing the event, thereby revealing that the release of invitations was imminent. This time, Apple seems to have been conscious to not add the hashtag logo until after invites were sent.

Apple's "Hi, Speed" event is set to take place on Tuesday, October 13. Since the new ‌iPad‌ Air, eighth-generation ‌iPad‌, and Apple Watch Series 6 were already announced last month, the October event is expected to be iPhone-centric with Apple introducing the new iPhone 12 lineup.

As well as the fact it's virtual this year this event is going to be a bit different to all previous iPhone launches in another way as well.

Has there ever been another iPhone launch where the next generation SoC (A14 this year) wasn't first announced at the iPhone event? This year Apple has already told us quite a lot about A14 when it announced it during the iPad Air event.

I do note though that Apple said a lot about A14 performance improvements at the iPad Air launch but nothing about any power efficiency improvements. Maybe that's one thing it deliberately held back for the iPhone launch. They have given specific percentage figures for power reductions on both high power and low power cores during previous A-Series announcements so I certainly hope this is the case and that there are some nice power reduction numbers to talk about this year as well.

Breaking news! Twitter Hashtag logos. It looks like there is no other information dropping between now and Tuesday.

What would you like to discuss next, my favorite color.

iPhone 4 and 4s were launched with a SoC already powering an iPad. But it was almost a decade ago.
I think they didn't tell the whole story during the September event, they had to talk about the A14 but didn't spend much time on that, they wanted to save some of the cool features for the iPhone and the Mac based on the same architecture.

I don’t need more speed on my phone. If there isn’t a compelling new functionality, speed alone won’t entice me to upgrade.
Will you still be watching the event though? I always watch and last year I had no intention whatsoever of upgrading my 1 year old XS but Apple actually managed to spring a huge surprise, at least to me, when it announced the really significant increases in battery life. That hooked me and there I was a few days later (or however long after it was) constantly hitting refresh waiting for the online store to come back up so that I could order an 11 Pro Max for delivery on release day.

I would love it if Apple was able to spring a similar surprise this year but with so many rumours and leaks from the supply chain surprises at the launch events are few and far between now.

To those of who you "closely" follow Wi-Fi Technology, is a bump in Wi-Fi Perf possible / likely in ANY of the iPhone 12 models ?

Disappointed. I was hoping the Apple logo for the Twitter hashtag was a deep purple, now I don’t know if I’m going to buy the new iPhone anymore. Let alone watch the keynote..

The event picture looks like those leaked photos of AirTags. I predict they will be unveiled during iPhone event.

This. The Hi-Speed seems to me it’s about ‘5G’ for obvious reasons, but the circular design indicates to me the lengthy rumored ‘Airtags’ are finally being demoed next week. Maybe we’ll even see the HomePod mini.

Thats the three items I expect. The circles relate to Air Tags, Mini HomePod, and speed as new 5G iPhones, likely everything centered on how these are useful in our lifestyle.

Did anyone tried on the Apple Event website to click the orange/blu logo using iPad or iPhone ? It's sooo cool because it's tridimensional
and projects the logo in your room 😊 using AR
Thanks for the tip. Several posters previously had mentioned the AR but not where they found it.

Like so many Apple events some expectations may be overly high, defying where the technology is at, or on a different path than Apple is going. I hope to see the Apple tile, maybe a new/smaller/cheaper HomePod because that is the one Apple device I am not convinced by yet and I would like to check it out, and seeing where phones are going is always interesting. I am the kind of person that keeps a phone for several years and my iPhone X, which replaced my iPhone 5s, is likely to keep me going another year. I feel that the ARM based Mac intro will get its own event.

The last thing I’m missing in my iphones is speed. Even my old X that I have passed down to my gf still is very fast.

Pretty sure the main 3 features will be 5G (nice to have atm), faster processor (unnecessary for me but nice to have), new design (but looks almost the same in a case, same notch).
min addition the Camera will be better and maybe some minor display improvements.

the killer features for me would have been 120hz (my desktop monitor has it and once you have it you don’t want to ever go back) and a smaller notch.

So overall I’m a little bit disappointed but will probably still get the iPhone because I feel like buyinn some tech after the mess that is 2020...
