It’s not an event it’s a press release can happen anytime of the day...

Prosser May have had info about this press release...

Just spit balling, but if it expires on the 28th, I assume they would want it available for some time after the event for media/public to use. I would assume at least a week, maybe more. I have no inside info, just reading the terrain. Would it be a long shot for the press briefing Prosser referred to today IS the #appleevent? We still have a couple of hours to find out.

All the Series 5 Watches are unavailable to purchase on Apple’s site. I don’t believe they are sold out of them. So something is happening soon regarding the Watch. Given the way 2020 has played out I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple does things completely different this year.

I guess that basically confirms a September event considering the hashtag emoji will only be active until September 28.
I'm hoping for an event the 22nd with an announcement later today.

Also, can we stop posting articles about Jon Prossers "leaks" now? He clearly just makes stuff up as he goes, Apple doesn't just shift around their schedule around like this. Stuff like this is usually planned weeks or even months in advance.
You mean that Apple didn't change their plans at the very last minute to try and destroy Prosser's credibility like some Prosser supporters are claiming?

*pikachu face*

😆😂

This could be a good time for Apple to announce whatever changes they want to make to the iOS App Store to make all the anti-trust and monopoly issues/investigations go away.

The sooner Apple makes changes, the more control they actually have over what the changes are. If Apple wants to insist there's no problem, we'll be seeing governments get more involved. They'll end up creating a maze of crap for Apple to go through with each country imposing its own restrictions. Self-regulation is always far preferred for everyone, rather than requiring the governments get involved, but it requires a company to actually care about something other than this quarter's or this year's profits.

Why would they release a new watch before they release the new OS's? It doesn't make any sense. iOS 14 and watchOS 7 would need to be released before that happens. Same with the iPad, iPadOS 14 would need to be released. And there is no way that is ready yet. They are still releasing betas.

I think something is coming today for sure but idk what it is. Maybe announcement for the Apple Event 2020...

they could set a release date of the watch and iOS 14 on the same day... quite often iOS comes before the release of the new iPhone...

Prosser specifically said that the press release would be for the watch and iPad. Mark Gurman was the one who said the announcement was going to be for an Apple event.

But you’re right, just a couple of hours and we’ll see who’s right. One things for sure, especially after doubling down last night, if Prosser is wrong on this one, he loses whatever credibility he had left.

I do wonder why no one points out the fact that Apple does things and events based on PST instead of EST, was I the only one who felt it was fishy in the first place?

And the hashtag confirms a September announcement of some sort is not really a surprise. Perhaps not many are aware, but to train and cultivate consumers into expecting something like and event during a very specific time of the year is actually VERY, VERY, VERY DIFFICULT from a media/advertising standpoint.

It's difficult enough to put a simple product promotion into an actual sale in real life, and for the public (more than just a country but in the entire world) to be expecting an event in September? Apple is really the first to establish it more than a decade ago, which subsequently changed the way their competitors in the industry "announce" new products and so.

To believe JP for a second that Apple would ruin and destroy the consumer behavior/expectation that took more than a decade to cultivate and plant into their target audience is just ridiculous when you put this into consideration.

Yep I agree. I just was more meaning I doubt there will be physical hardware released today because the software isn't done yet.

Yes if anything it will be an announcement with pre-orders immediately with a release date just before the September event which is trending on Twitter... same for iPad Air (however, I just can’t see them just doing a press release for a redesigned iPad Air especially with it being iPads 10 year anniversary this year).

The new watches and iPads don’t necessarily have to run watchOS 7 and iPadOS 14. They could run versions of watchOS 6 and iPadOS 13 in the interim if Apple believes the new major releases aren’t ready. In fact, the publicly available versions may already support these new devices.

To be fair, he did say the PR would drop between 9 and 12 Eastern although most likely to be 9AM. He still has two hours to be right. Beyond that, it's Gurman 1 - Prosser 0

He didn’t say that. In all his tweets he is saying 9am est

Apple Watch now doesn't deliver until Oct 9-16th, according to the Apple Store app.

Prosser probably doesn’t even have an “insider source.” He just throws out obvious generalized things that anyone could say, or recycles the things other people and their sources say. He throws so much stuff at the wall hoping for something to stick.

But I guess he’s doing something right if so many people believe and follow him. He’s his own hype man.

It’s not uncommon for Apple to announce products and by shipping date the firmware follows up.
