The most anticipated Apple Event since the introduction of the Macintosh in 1984!

I still don't understand why people were cheering for scrolling text. That wasn't a big deal in 1984. My VIC20 could do side scrolling text like that.

Is anyone else super excited that we have basically no leaks about the new Macs??
Other than multiple leaks stating this first batch will just be brain-swapped current model updates at the same price point?
Yeah I'm hoping the leaks are wrong, frankly. Give me a 12" with actual usability, a keyboard that works and TWO USB-C ports and I'm in.

Anyone else feel bad for giving Apple so much **** over the years for not refreshing their Mac lineup as often as consumers wanted when 90% of it was down to Intel's meandering roadmap? The whole trashcan/Mac Pro fiasco is exempt from this.

From now on, Mac updates will get a fairly predictable annual-ish update cycle, like iPhones and iPads. Hopefully.

no last minute leaks this time? I guess it will be „only“ Mac updates in familiar casing and AirTags will remain a Mystery another year. I don’t mind it actually. Apple took enough of my money this fall already. I hope they don’t release a Blue Version. That might change my mind 😅

Just watch as we’re all wrong and it’s just AirTags and an Apple TV with no new Macs. 🤣
I had thought about that, it would be a complete waste of an event but not unheard of from Apple, they've done events for much less even during the Jobs era. It will most likely be Macs but you never know...

Same thing happened back in 2006 though. First gen Intel Macs kept the same form factor as the PPC ones, complete redesigns came only a year or more later.

Not really. The first MacBook (2006) was quite different to the iBook that preceded it. Had a different form factor, 13" wide screen display (compared to the iBook's 12" 4:3 display), MagSafe charging, etc etc. Same story for the first MacBook Pro compared to the last PowerBook.

Does anyone know why the event is not appearing on my Apple TV - it’s a modern one with the App Store. I’m in the UK.

Eeeehhh, no.

The iMac, Macbook Pro and Macbook Air literally went years between updates. The mac mini was left without an update for four years at one point. The Mac Pro - a device that by its name alone should be updated on a continuous basis - was left to rot for six years. If you had a baby at the same time as you bought a Mac Pro in 2013, that child was reading and writing by the time an updated Mac Pro finally became available in 2019.

From a financial perspective I can't blame Apple for focusing their attention on the far more lucrative iPhone & iPad market in the 2010s, but it really looked as if the Mac as a concept was close to death at one point.

I'm really hoping today ends all that.
