Foxconn just announced 3 EV prototypes officially today though...

Yup.

We may see some dual badging thing. It'll be called the Apple Car in North America and Europe, and Foxtron in China.

Electrek's coverage of it suggests during the presentation that the Foxtron executives didn't seem all that sure what to refer to the vehicles as... I think the awkwardness comes from the fact that they can't reveal it as an Apple vehicle for few more hours.

Unless they go back to having a big LCD backlight (which obvs they won't), there's nothing to light it.

Was a good way to see if a display was completely broken, or just the backlight had packed up - hold it up to the light and see if you still had picture.

Yeah they can’t do it the way they used to, but if they want to have it as a feature it’s certainly doable. They’ve focused on it in marketing videos even when the current models didn’t have it…
