This is one event that I am both interested in and yet will not buy one new product they show.

The real surprise will be when they announce that the new high-end Mac mini will have a notch.

Watch them announce AirTags now come in a ten rack and then call it a day.
1 hour in, we've just been through all the usual environmental schpeel: "And now for something we know you've all been restlessly anticipating... that's right, we've finally found a way of making AirPower work!"

I continue to believe that the Foxconn prototype vehicle that was spotted last week is actually the Apple prototype vehicle, to be revealed at this event within 2 hours of now.

Bizarre that this story went totally ignored by MacRumors and nearly every other media outlet.

I suspect Apple sent out some kind of gag order - "speculate about anything besides Macs at this event and you're not invited."

If Foxconn were really making this car on their own, as Foxconn says, that would be a massive Apple story, as it would mean that Apple's biggest partner of the past 2 decades is trying to become a direct competitor. This would be very much a story for Apple outlets to cover. But they won't cover it, so they can remain invited to this event.

But Foxconn's story has tons of holes in it. They're just deflecting from the fact it's the Apple Car.

(Foxconn's started their reveal event 45 minutes ago in China. I expect Apple to reveal the same vehicle ~an hour from now, with Apple badging: https://electrek.co/2021/10/18/foxconn-unveils-3-new-electric-vehicles-build-evs-for-other-brands/ )
Isn't this a "Virtual Event"? How does one get uninvited to a Youtube stream?

Powerbook G5 - finally after 17 years!!!

Kidding aside, it is kinda that.... new notebooks with Apple-designed RISC chips (only this time they are designed fully in-house)... dreams do come true.

Also, what will be SUUUUPER interesting is if they launch an "unleashed" high-end Mac Mini today. I imagine that would go for $1K at the low end and maybe up to $4K fully maxed RAM / SSD... It would likely run circles around the base Mac Pro and go toe-to-toe with 12- or 16- core variants.

I certainly hope that the 'Apple Car' will not look like every other over-styled Japanese or Korean electric car out there (this prototype looks like a cousin to the Rav4). I should hope that the Apple Car, if there is such a thing, will take on a more understated and refined German inspired design.
