That's what I'm wondering... Pencil now, new iPads at WWDC.I'm getting the feeling they're gonna announce a new pencil.
I feel exactly the same way. Personally, I rarely use the pencil and when I do it's only to sign something or to annotate on a map screenshot - then again I am not an artist so this iPad use case never really applied to me.I’m excited for the new iPad Pros, but find it weird that they’re focusing on the pencil. I had both Apple Pencil 1 and Pencil 2 and have never really found a use for them. I’m not artist and don’t draw. Any text entry is much faster with a keyboard. Creating diagrams is easier and cleaner with an app like Keynote or PowerPoint. Pencils just feel like an antiquated tool that is only useful to small segment of visual artists.

People would accidentally poke their eyes out.Apple should create an Apple Pencil to work with Apple Vision Pro, to allow drawing and painting on any surface, with potentially limitless work-space.
Did I miss something or are you talking about the Pencil in that pretty heavily stylized animation? That pencil looks shorter, considerably shorter actually. It looks wider, but that's probably just optics. There was mention of it being shorter in a previous article. No way that the dimensions would be off with that graphic, assuming it's not a reproduction error.
Some people already complained about that rumor. Personally, I found it a little on the long side; exaggerated

I’m not sure if that’s really much to go by except for “there’s going to be a be new pencil.”
Also, the Pencil USB-C is slightly shorter than the Pencil 2. Maybe they’ll just bring the new one in line with that.
Hopefully whatever they do they can finally call it an Apple Pencil Pro, and then just stick to 1 version of the existing/current Apple Pencil, instead of a selling a confusing array of 3 versions/generations.As I wrote in a comment in the other thread about this event, it's possible Apple is putting light sensors into the Pencil to allow color picking from the environment.
They've had some ideas in this area for years: https://www.patentlyapple.com/2021/...to-provide-more-accurate-color-selecting.html

Starting from $999Introducing the new Polishing Cloth Pro with nano ceramic coating, for the most thorough and gentle polishing experience we’ve ever created. Coming in 5 different colors it truly is 5 years ahead of any other polishing cloth on the market today. It is the most pro polishing cloth ever. You’re going to love it.

They already have, because it should have worked on the MacBook Pros the whole time. Then, at least, there'd be a payoff for the defectively oversized trackpads on Apple laptops. The trackpads are bigger than a small Wacom tablet.then people will ask let the pencil work with the mac
I don’t think so. How many people have bought an iPad in addition to their Mac only because it has Pencil support and not for any of the other reasons such as its portable size/form factor, longer battery life, simpler/intuitive UI, and touch UI (because I don’t see Apple adding touch support to Macs because that would require redesigning all current Mac software). Whatever that number is, I’m willing to bet it would be insignificant. I have both Mac and iPad (and Pencil) and would continue to have both if Macs gained Pencil support. It’s more likely that Apple just doesn’t see a big enough market for Mac Pencil support to bother. But that could always change. The only reason it doesn't is Apple wants artists to buy a Mac and an iPad.
