Apple Event: Six New Products to Expect on September 9

Apple has announced that it will be holding an event on Wednesday, September 9 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, with the company widely expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, its first-ever foldable iPhone, and more.

Other products expected to be announced at the event include an Apple Watch Series 12 with a ceramic case option, an Apple Watch Ultra 4, AirPods 5 with and without active noise cancellation, and potentially more.

Here are the six products most likely to be unveiled at the event.

• iPhone 18 Pro: A20 Pro chip, a smaller Dynamic Island, a simplified Camera Control button, a Dark Cherry color option, and more.
• iPhone 18 Pro Max: The same features rumored for the iPhone 18 Pro, but the Pro Max model may be slightly thicker due to a larger battery and a variable aperture camera, which might be exclusive to the Pro Max model this year.
• iPhone Ultra: A foldable iPhone Ultra with a 7.7-inch inner display and 5.3-inch outer display, two rear cameras, one front camera, a Touch ID power button instead of Face ID, and more. iOS 27 is expected to be tailored for the foldable iPhone, allowing for side-by-side apps and other iPad-like multitasking functionality.
• Apple Watch Series 12: A faster S11 chip or newer, longer battery life, fitness tracking improvements, and a ceramic case option.
• Apple Watch Ultra 4: A faster S11 chip or newer, fitness tracking improvements, and additional satellite features for the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and newer, such as Apple Maps via satellite and the ability to send and receive photos with Messages via satellite. Touch ID was initially rumored, but seemingly ruled out.
• AirPods 5: Two new AirPods 5 models with and without active noise cancellation.

Many of the products below are more likely to be announced in October this year, but perhaps some of them will appear at the September event.

• iMac: M6 chip and new color options.
• 14-inch MacBook Pro: A new 14-inch MacBook Pro base model with an M6 chip.
• MacBook Ultra: A major MacBook Pro redesign in late 2026 or early 2027, with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, an OLED display, a touch screen, a Dynamic Island, and a thinner design. On this laptop, which will reportedly be named MacBook Ultra, macOS 27 is expected to offer a touch-friendly interface.
• Apple TV: At least five new features, including an A17 Pro chip or newer, an increased 8GB of RAM for Apple Intelligence, Siri AI support, an Apple-designed N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, and an updated Siri Remote.
• HomePod mini: Newer chip with Siri AI support, improved sound quality, Apple's N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 support, a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, and potentially new color options like red.
• Home Hub: An all-new smart home hub featuring Siri AI, a 6-inch to 7-inch square display, an A18 chip for Apple Intelligence, FaceTime, and more. There will a tabletop version with a speaker base and a wall-mounted version.

I don't think the HomePod Mini is getting a chip with Siri AI support. Best it will get is a chip with enhanced on device understanding (S9, S10, S11) but Siri AI support will still likely need a Home Hub or AppleTV on the network to process the request.

I do too, but it's not unique to Apple. All prices are rising with the tide. Tech is just getting more expensive in 2026, that's why we are seeing things like lease deals, financing options.

As for me, I'm going to need a VERY compelling reason to upgrade my M1 Pro Laptop, my M2 iPad Pro and my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Until recently, these were going to be no brainer trade-ups because that's just what I do to stay current. This year, the price increases are going to give me major pause.

Yep, I think that with many things, not just Apple products, the questions people are more likely to ask than before are:

Does what I have do everything I want it to do? Will it keep doing this tomorrow / next week / next month?

If the answer is yes, and people are feeling the pinch of rising costs, then why upgrade?

iMac might be like the Minis and Studios - just an SoC upgrade, so no big announcements just a press release and an updated Mac Store online.

If they really are pushing home devices, they might get an unveiling all of their own.

Not sure about the MacBook Ultra at all. It might arrive in autumn, it mightn't even exist, and instead is really just the next iteration of MacBook Pro, to appear at the usual time.

Like others, I’m interested to see the prices on these. As an unapologetic Apple fanboy and regular upgrader it’s sad but the price increases mean I’m much more likely to ride out my current devices for a few years, so the events and rumours are far less relevant/exciting to me now 😢

I think the- HomeHub will be the “One more thing”

Not discussing it at all other than a “our lineup is … iPhone 17 [still] at $xxx”

Apple doesn’t discuss future products, and won’t even say the September event is an iPhone event until the event itself. They make no promise of a new lineup every year at that time.

I don't really get what they will do with the AirPods. Why release a new version unless they have a H3 chip to use it as a vehicle for, and if they do have a H3 chip, surely they'd put it first into AirPods Pro?

I mean, they could say "better battery life", but they're AirPods. Change the shape, maybe?

“One more thing” seems trite when every “new” thing you release has been to market by other manufacturers for 5-10 years.

B) Apple doesn’t have a product in development in the pipeline worthy of “one more thing”

I’m not so sure.

I think the HomeHub makes most sense to announce alongside the updated HomePod Mini and Apple TV. We’ve waited so long for those now so I suspect that Apple won’t think it a catastrophe to delay that group of announcements until October.

If that does happen then I would love a “one more thing” surprise in October, two actually, a FaceID doorbell and a security camera. They’re rumoured to be on the way but maybe getting them this year is too much to hope for.

Yeah. I’m getting a little worried that Apple might be abandoning this segment of the market.

I have a couple of Sonos Ones in my home office and if I move to Siri (from Alexa) I would love to replace those with full size HomePods but I’m not sure that I want to spend a not insignificant amount of money on a product that is aging and that doesn’t seem (according at least to the lack of rumours about it) much love or future development from Apple.

If you think now that Tim is gone that Apple is going to drastically change its approach, you are going to be pretty upset. Will there be some changes, yes, but probably not the changes you want. Apple's competitors would switch positions with them in a second if given the chance...

it’s that Tim isn’t a technology or product person and his strategy was to play it safe.

Playing it safe is boring.

Tim was boring.

Counting beans is boring.

Why do people always defend Tim by pointing to stock price or how valuable the company is…at the expense of how boring and late to the market they are on every product? You’re all big apple investors? You’ve accepted his Buick-style leadership, you know the products are stale and you say, “…but look at the stock price😏”, like that makes up for how lame Apple is under Tim?

Take some chances ($3500 AVP is not taking a chance. A foldable phone is not taking a chance. An iPad mini stuck to a speaker is not taking a chance. Siri is boring.).

Apple has grown too big and too profitable to be interesting or exciting. That’s all.

I’m glad I got to live through the golden age. It was magical. It was exciting. Apple events were dramatic.
