I really hope that the new machines are redesigned and that the report is wrong.

Otherwise, I'm waiting.

I wanted to pull the trigger on an iPad Pro or an MBA, both of which are not worth it with rumored changes so close to come...
Why do you want a redesign? Does it really matter what the machine looks like so long as it has a good screen and a working keyboard?

What was the point of the current radical new Mac Pro design if they have a new smaller design in the works? Seems like a lot of wasted engineering resources for a short lived product unless they will have 2 different models of Mac Pro?

The current Mac Pro needs that cooling because of Intel's thermal loads.

I am guessing we will see a two-prong Mac Pro approach: the current Intel model for workflows that require Intel / Windows support and ASi for those that do not.

I would rather have Intel 16 I use bootcamp to game, I ant wifi 6 and new screen tech this isn’t the update I would hope for

I am very sceptical about the 16" with AS... I bet there was an error in "translation" somewhere. We will most likely see a new 16" with Intel CPUs and maybe updated AMD graphics.

Well, in single-core, the iPhone is already on par or beating anything Intel or AMD can offer. A 8-core A14 with slightly higher clocks will handily outperform any i9 at a much lower power consumption.

Error in translation from a Mark Gurman Bloomberg article? He may be wrong, but has an excellent track record.

I think it would be very strange to not bring the new AS MBP with the redesigned display. Why not stick with the Intel version and wait for the redesigns then? Guess my MB 12 will have to do much longer then. Considering COVID19, travel will not push me to upgrade anyways ...
Especially with the MBP 16 claim, I would not bet anything on this “leak“

I mean that something like “Apple will introduce a new 16” MBP” might have been turned into a “16 MBP with Apple Silicon” somewhere in the rumor chain. I just don’t see Apple being ready with the larger chips yet.

Yes, but not just the CPU, there are seven slots that could well include 500W of GPU.

But I think you’re right about Apple keeping the Intel-based Mac Pro around until it’s not needed. At least I hope so...

Next week's Apple event will see Apple introduce three new Macs with Apple Silicon processors, including a 13-inch MacBook Pro, a 16-inch MacBook Pro, and a 13-inch MacBook Air.

The updated info on which Macs we can expect to see at the event comes direct from Bloomberg, with sources listed as "people familiar with the matter."

Aside from the transition to Apple Silicon chips, the new Macs will not feature significant design changes, with Apple continuing to use the same MacBook form factor. Rumors suggest Apple is working on redesigned versions of the MacBook Pro that will come in 14.1 and 16.1-inch sizes with mini-LED displays, but those machines will not be ready until 2021.

Apple's new Macs will feature 5-nanometer chips that are based on the A14 in the iPhone 12 models, bringing power efficiency and performance improvements. Apple plans to transition the entire Mac lineup to Apple Silicon, but the process will take around two years.

While the notebooks will be the first to get refreshed, Apple is working on a redesigned iMac with an Apple Silicon chip and a new, smaller Mac Pro model.

Apple's event is set to kick off on Tuesday, November 10 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple will live stream the event, and we'll also have coverage here at MacRumors.com and the MacRumorsLive Twitter.

This makes no sense at all. The 16 inch was updated in the summer with a new graphic card.
I understand the lower cost MacBook Pro as it was stuck on 8th gen intel for a century. I understand the MacBook Air as the temperature management of the current version is an absolute joke, but replacing the 16 inch is ridiculous. Especially if they then replace it again 6 months later.

Is there a new Intel chip for the 16" MBP other than what is shipping today?

Bring it on! I’m interested how, if at all, they integrate touch functionality to the MacBook screen to bring greater functionality to all those incoming iOS apps. While the iPad proves cursors work well for touch-centric devices, it has yet to be seen how cursor-only input would fare for for a non-touch device with iOS apps like the Apple Silicon MacBook.

I don't think you'll see a 14" until mini-LED is ready, and it's not yet ready.
