There are not many PCs that are THINNER than the current Air. The current Air is pretty damn thin. So much so that it has to use a Y-series Intel chip, which sucks for performance. So, your point about there being thinner laptops, if even true, is moot because the user experience is still crap.

I was talking about weight all along, mentioning the thinning effort which led to the butterflygate only as an illustration that they do care about having the most portable machines.

Waiting is hard...:p

The 17th makes sense as the iPhone 12 mini and Pro Max will be on sale by then.

i still feel betrayed that the 12 Mini gets some crayon glossy radiation blue colour vs the matte blue of the 12 Pro. It like jumps out at you like a technicolor dreamcoat Movie of the mid 80’s.

black it’ll be. But man I would’ve LOVED the graphite 12 Mini.

Yes.

And to push that further, a Pro features inclusive Graphite Mini would have been great (I understand that the Mini is too small for some of those sensors, but still... etc.)

As far as the event, I would be thrilled if it was November 10th too (Despite the 17th making more sense).

Hopefully they’re much cooler running and less fan-happy than the current Intel models, though.

My MacBook Pro’s fan cranks up every time I run “Hearthstone”, but the same game runs great on an iPad with very little heat and no fan.

I suppose it'll always depend on what task your computer is performing. You can expect little to no use of the fan for internet surfing, but you should always expect high fan speed for - example - high resolution video editing or hardcore gaming.

I think we will see Apple Silicon iMacs. At the moment, I am thinking a 24" iMac first followed later by a 27" iMac Pro. The 27" will offer better specs (more powerful SoC, a dedicated Apple GPU, MiniLED 5K display possibly with ProMotion) to differentiate itself from the "base" model.

The A14X SoC would work, IMO, for a 12" MacBook-class model as it would be much better than the 9-15W Intel CPUs from the earlier MacBook (Retina) and current MacBook Air (Retina) models.

However, for the Mac Mini, 24" iMac and 13/14" MacBook Pro, I expect they will have Mac-specific AoCs with (rumored) 12+ cores (8 Big and 4 Little).
Damn I'm hoping for a 32" iMac..I'll keep dreaming!

Well, that's the reality on MacBook Pros today with Intel silicon. Here's hoping that Apple Silicon will allow us to do a lot more video editing and gaming before the fan kicks in. After all, iPad Pros can do some fairly hardcore stuff with no fan at all.

Hmmm "Long due for an update" ... even tho it got a significant update just two months ago.
In the history of tech hardware, I'm not sure there was ever a time when a two month old model qualified as 'due for an update'.

Yes, there was. During last transition the MacBook Pro 15“ Core Duo 1,67 GHz was replaced with the 2,0 GHz version after just 35 days.
