right, it is amazing that they managed to fit the qwerty keyboard on the 41mm screen, yet it just won't fit a 44mm one from previous gens...
This isn’t taking customer experiences into account.

If Apple didn’t think it fit on the smaller Watch before, but had it on the big model, people would have been mad or confused why their friend’s watch had it but theirs didn’t.

Consistency matters, especially on something with health features that matter most to older people / boomers.

This would be the same executive team that spent about 30 minutes during the launch of the first Apple Watch explaining exactly how much research and testing they’d done to establish the ‘perfect’ case sizes were 38mm and 42mm.

My new S7, at 45mm, definitely feels substantially larger on the wrist than the S3 it has overthrown.

It's a minor size change.

More interested in updated features to be considered and added like a blood pressure monitor (for people who have to monitor their B/P) and a glucose monitor (for those watching their blood sugar level).

It would be a good upgrade from the S5.

So it's still got 1.7mm of boarder which means if they push it further in the future, the smaller watch will have a bigger screen than the bigger original Apple Watch, while the case remains more or less the same size as the smaller 38mm original Apple Watch.

Cheer up. When the battery dies, you can stand it on its edge, facing south, and use it as a sundial. You’ll get the time within two hours or so, except at night.

ok, but instead i'm confused as to why my s6 44mm won't support a software—only feature that is supported by the 41mm s7. and let's be honest, if the 41mm s7 supports it — chances are 40mm s6 can too.

and yes — this is taking customer experiences into account — i'm a customer who doesn't see any reason to update to s7 other than this, which is purely a software feature.

Making things bigger in electronics should be easy. Apple also is well prepared with various screen sizes for a while. My guess is that sales are not as expected.

Well, speaking of customer experience:

battery life -> far too short.
health sensors... -> largely inaccurate, with readings dependent on all sorts of all things, including cardinal sin: version of software being run. Good luck accurately comparing your VO2 today compared to three months ago.
3rd party complication updates -> Only 4 an hour? I want twelve.

I haven’t really used an Apple Watch since the first gen, but when I held a series 7 in the store I had to double check if I really had the latest model in hand.

I picked up the SE and went back to the 7, didn’t seem as dramatic a difference as the renders made it seem.

I mostly knew I had the latest version because it was green.

All you people whining about the non-reality of the rumors about an iPhone styled watch would be the very same ones whining about dings and dents on the edges in the first two days with such a design.

(Not that many of you would have actually bought it, anyway.)

The screen ‘waterfall’ really works nicely with the new ‘Contour’ face, but it’s quite nice with the California faces as well- which also makes the larger screen even more noticeable.

It's a minor size change.
The size change looks minor because the watch is so small to begin with.

But 41mm has roughly the same display area as the 44mm, which is almost equivalent to the percentage increase from 6.1" iPhone 13 Pro to 6.7" iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Not that I wouldn't want additional health sensor.

It's a minor thing, but I'd really like to see enhancements to the workout metrics display. It hasn't changed in years, despite the screen size increasing twice, it still just shows a few lines of plain text, and the entire top 1/3 of the display is wasted on the huge workout icon in the top-left. I'd love to see a redesign, with more detail and maybe a graph or two showing heart rate/pace/calories over time, maybe a couple different 'views' to swipe between, etc.
While I love it as a running watch, I still can’t help feeling there is some missed opportunity with the Apple Watch like mentioned. Graphics could improve. More metrics. More options like intervals, estimated finish time for race etc.

Come on apple - take it to the next level

They explain why they ditched the square chassis at the proverbial last minute too?
