Respect for Tim Cook down 10% from me after seeing that he pals around with female Hitler....er...um... Pelosi.

I vehemetly disagree with Pelosi's stance on just about every issue I can think of but calling her "female Hitler" is way over the top. I'm surprised this thread hasn't been moved to the Politics, Religion, and Social Issues board moved yet. I'm sure it'll be headed there soon.

As for Iovine, he looks like a 12 year old who snuck into the event just to photobomb a picture with some famous people. I guess you know you've "arrived" when you can walk into a room full of men wearing tuxedos while you're wearing a t-shirt.

I've always loved iTunes and iTunes radio. Plenty to find, buy or stream. I'm definitely one who has taken to streaming almost exclusively, unless I just have to listen to that classic killer album all the way through.

However, since I filled my house with Sonos speakers and gone entirely in that direction, which I absolutely love, I haven't listened to iTunes radio at all. It's also much less frequently now that I even bother with what's on my Macs.

If Apple can't play nice with Sonos, unfortunately, I will not be a part of the iTunes/Beats/streaming/Spotify-crushing renaissance.

I'm sure that they're not worried about little ol' me, though.

Edit: I also am not interested in work-arounds and the like to somehow get iTunes radio into the Sonos controller apps.

I literally have the same situation. I love iTunes and iTunes radio but I love my Sonos system more. The fact that I can't have access to iTunes radio on it though has made me to switch to spotify (and Pandora). I've actually researched about this a lot and have even contacted Sonos customer service and found out that the lack of support is Apple's fault as they are not opening the iTunes radio for third party developers to use.

"Clowns to the left of me.
Jokers to the right.
Here I am.
Stuck in the middle with you."

Feel free to attach the balloon with that quote to whichever person in that picture that strikes your fancy.

It's a fail right there. To BE the music business you have to make sure that the source of music is thriving. The indie artists and DJ's must be able to upload and market themselves WITHOUT any record labels or money involved. Just like on YouTube, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Patreon or any other indie alternative. These days labels are becoming more like trucks, some people will still need them, but most of us will be better off with lighter alternatives closer to the source. Then, should the need for a truck arise, it should be an easy step for the artist.

I think he said that he was on the committee that led to the group that authorized creation of the Internet.

The internet was already being created. All the politicians did was make sure they had control, funded agencies and created mandates.

The internet WOULD HAVE equivalently been created WITHOUT Al Gore. He was just being a politician - spending our money because he knows what is better for us than we do.

People in Tim's position have to be neutral and associate with all kinds of people some they agree with and others they don't. With that said I find this picture nauseating to point where I question supporting Apple with my hard earned money. :D

So part of a group that told another group to tell some other people to go ahead and actually DO something.

I would be embarrassed to mention that as something I "did," but I guess in politics, since no one ever actually _does_ much of anything, it'll have to do.

Someone else clarified exactly what he said, but I was only doing it for clarification, not admiration.

If Congress actually designed the Internet, every packet would route through every congressional district at 110 baud, and each packet would have 2GB of packing on either end of each bit of data. Plus, each packet would have to be manually inspected prior to transmission to the next router, and those jobs would go to the lowest bid contractor.

The most obvious thing would be to let bands create their own iOS apps with users paying a £10/yr in-app subscription to access the content, including their back catalogue plus new material. If you think about it most bands only release one new album a year so that only equates to about £10/year anyway. Throw in some other stuff like music videos, pay-per-view live concerts, ticket sales, merchandise available to buy from within the app, etc and it could prove very lucrative for the artists. Certainly more lucrative than the pittance they get from the streaming services like Spotify.
