"Compared to OLEDs, the inorganic nature of microLEDs gives them a longer lifetime and allows them to display brighter images with minimal risk of screen burn-in. Compared to other display technologies used for 3D/AR/VR, the sub-nanosecond response time of μLED has a huge advantage since 3D/AR/VR displays need high frames per second and fast response times to minimise ghosting." They will dial up the Liquid Glass to 11.How will this work with displaying a static desktop on the MacBook Pro all day? Will the screen auto dim? Will they expect people to swap screens every couple of years after they get burn-in?
Turned out to not be commercially viable for the foreseeable future.whatever happened to microLED?
At least theoretically this technology is supposed to enjoy numerous advantages over OLED
Yeah, I get that they have gotten better about burn in. But it's still an inherent flaw of OLED and having it on a Computer where static images are the norm will just make me anxious about it. I know it looks a tiny bit better, but I'd prefer to not be anxious about leaving my screen on.How will this work with displaying a static desktop on the MacBook Pro all day? knock on woodit means the regular iPad will finally get a wireless charging pencil and a laminated display
The next MacBook Pro update will be the M5 Pro and M5 Max options, most likely in a couple months. OLED is supposedly planned for the M6 model, so this is not correct. The MacBook Pro will be updated with an OLED display when it is next updated
I think they meant when it gets a design update as opposed to a processor update. The next MacBook Pro update will be the M5 Pro and M5 Max options, most likely in a couple months. OLED is supposedly planned for the M6 model, so this is not correct.
Like the new iPad Pros, they will use the same Tandem OLED architecture that is much less susceptible to burn-in because it has two layers. How will this work with displaying a static desktop on the MacBook Pro all day? Even just auto dimming the display when idle can probably help a lot. And of course a screen saver for when idle.OLED has been out for years now i think they have the burn in figured out.
My Asus Laptop has OLED i like it a lot. Now onto MBP with OLED for next purchase.
Shut the thing down once in a while take a break turn screens off problem solved.
Not a 24/7 operator here!...![]()
Nah. The iPhone 17 received the exact same ProMotion screen as the 17 Pro. Exact same. Apple should do the same with the MBA & give it the exact same ProMotion OLED screen as the MBP will receive.MacBook Air needs ProMotion. Give the MBA the "hand-me-down" mini LED while the MBP gets the OLED. Huge leap and instant by for me. An increased 16" MBA would also be nice.
It's a gamer thing. Only.jfc not everyone cares about ProMotion. I can't tell the difference at all, and no my vision isn't terrible.
Majority of people said the same thing for years regarding base model iPhone. Here we are with the iPhone 17 getting the identical ProMotion screen as 17 Pro. And the 17 Pro series is selling very well. The ProMotion screen is not as much of a differentiating factor as it once was.I can't see the iPad mini and iPad Air getting ProMotion, since that is really the big selling point of the iPad Pro. Heck in the iPad Air had OLED and ProMotion I really don't think many people would bother spending more to get the iPad Pro.

Those who need the improved CPU/GPU performance and extra RAM that the MBP provides, they'll buy that.
