It IS easier manually. Technology isn't the savior. A friend of mine came to NYC and rented a car to go someplace in New Jersey. The ****ing GPS unit he brought with him kept giving wrong directions. I told him to chuck it and just use a bloody map. Done. Easier. Accurate.

Same with the underground. Look at a bloody map (including the one on your phone). Find the nearest station to your destination. Buy an underground ticket, get on the train and go. Do you need a computer to hold your bloody hand? Look at the farkin map in the station and figure out within seconds if you need to transfer lines and where. Simple. Done. Accurate.

For Christs sake. Maybe since I live in a city where I use a comprehensive subway system every day, it's just easy and efficient for me. Probably. Tourists don't seem to know how to read platform signs...even though they are OBVIOUS.

The friend of my husband's wife had an uncle whose son had a friend who used this one time a GPS which took him to McDonalds rather than Burger King.

I rest my case. Technology is absolutely useless.

Exactly. I don't hate Apple. I'm very very worried that what has been one of the wonders of human creativity is making MANY errors, obvious errors that any average geek wouldn't make.

Apple had camera vans cruising the country two years ago? Whatever happened to that footage? Maybe it's planned for the iOS X keynote announcement?

It's a major Apple Maps feature. I'm sure it'll be a flagship feature of an upcoming iOS. 2 years isn't a lot of time to capture all the major cities that started with Flyover. With Flyover now expanded to dozens of cities, it'll take some time to get them all. I'm sure they'd want to launch with as many cities as possible.

I'm convinced that Apple's take on StreetView would be tightly integrated into Flyover so that you could just keep on zooming and seamlessly transition into a store front position. Maybe they'll call it Flyover + and bundle it into a higher res next generation Flyover.
