Has been going on about a year on my wife's 13" retina MBP from Early 2015 mostly around the camera. Think they would cover it?

Update: chatted with Apple Support. They said I probably qualify for the program. I'll take it to the Apple Store on Sunday.

Update 2: Took it to the Apple Stire today they will ship it off to replace the display and ship to me. No charge out of warranty.

Not being rude, but then why do you come here? Genuinely curious.

I am always fascinated when people denounce something (like a religion), and then can't seem to actually "leave" it. Or they become antagonistic.

I'm here because I like watching tech (in the security arena) , also educating readers with my knowledge and Apl is a very interesting story, I sort of want to witness the Apl decline front-row honestly and see how long-term Apl users (like my own sister) react to their world changing, its interesting. Google, Amazon, FB. Microsoft are not as desperate in positioning, Apl at 70% one product is very interesting case study. My degree is in Business process/statistics, so I have a background in analysis.

Remember I'm currently a current Apl user, ex-apl consumer I have a mostly unused Ipad Air (from work,,then I got Lumias) in my spare bag in my trunk, I update it once in a while, occasionally use it. So hope that answers your question. i would like to be blown away by a new apl product or even settle for a non -yawnfest WWDC that stops making me tune in for comedy in EDGE on my SP4 , so I'm curious as well to see how Apl works and navigates this cliff. If they pivot or fail. Everyone looks at a trainwreck and Apl is stage center. Apl is a huge bloated company, almost tragic with the nimble world around them, similar to AOL remember "You got mail" there was a movie on it. Good news they still have subscribers! Just lost "mindshare" , sound familiar?

I literally LOL'd when the over hyped AplWatch launch, with them describing the "Galaxy of Apps" and pillow watch..pure gold comedy.

At one point I bought ipods, an ipad3 (for my wife)...thought about iPhone for me (short time) and my wife . I even recommended to my wife to try the iPhone 6s after 3 androids she tends to destroy, she thought then she bought an Galaxy S6 saying to me simply "I don't like apl", she checked out the Costco girl asked about her choice and said good call LOL at checkout,"I hate apl" , brutal . She never used her iPad 3 either i bought her earlier pink smart cover and all...what a total waste of $400

Apl is not anymore a choice , nobody I know wants one anymore even my apl-sister/her husband who are both blown away by my SP4 and my older sister's Surface Book., So all this "fallout" is simply due to what Apl did after with products, prices and brain dead decisions. Their unabashed arrogance attracts me, why on Earth are they so arrogant? It's weird. I never got the Apl "cult" mindset...so I examine it and the associated vice up close.

Think of me as the Canary. Look at Apl spelling for indicators.Thee letters to go. I'm just the messenger. I wish all well. Denounce? Let's try iObserve and iTry

I had this same issue with my Mid-2014 rMBP purchased January of 2015. I opened a ticket wiht Apple back in April of 2016 and last November I took it to a SimplyMac and they replaced it for free under this program.

Apple's QA Department did a terrible job here.
Even if it's a free replacement, it already caused trouble and aggravation to the enduser.
Not a good experience.
It's the experience that irritates me. So yea....regardless of free replacement.

This makes me really angry! Why 3 years? What if you took extreme good care of your MacBook and it happens later?

I had a MacBook Pro late 2012 and bought a new MacBook Pro 2016. While preparing to sell it, I just cleaned the screen (just with a wet cloth - no chem stuff). When I saw the little "scratch" at the bottom. I was pressing a bit harder - which made it bigger :( Now - the Display clearly does have the issue - I just took care and usually had a dust cloth to wipe it clean from time to time.

I wonder if they'd fix my MBP 13" Retina screen. I don't have this sort of thing along the edges, but the middle of the screen has begun to get a permanent imprint from some of the keys.

It should, sound like shoddy application , too bad. I suggest everyone check theirs close up.

AR is only a few microns thick and applied in AR layers similar to spray painting, then sealed with a hydrophobic top coat to smooth fissures/craters , easy to damage, easy to have a bad process especially on larger displays. I suspect Apl process is bad and this is endemic of these larger "retina" displays.

Use the correct AR cleaner and microfiber and cross fingers. Choose other?

Lol people are thankful they use crap parts and replace them for free years later at 1/8th the price and even if you are "eligible". Apple's rich consumers are pretty smart, hence their fortunes.

Oh wow Apple confirms stuff to Macrumors, congrats guys, I'm not sure when that happened but that's great ;)

To those who have this problem.

How did u get it?

I bought my Macbook pro with retina screen in 2012 June (first batch preorder) and I dont have this issue yet. I am pretty extreme cautious person who almost never clean the screen (tries not to smudge it in the first place). If I have to, I used soaked water on a towel and lightly cleaned it.
I want to know so I can avoid doing it. Thanks.

I had mine replaced two months ago. Late 2013 rMPB 13". The genius told me to only use a wet microfiber cloth to clean it. Never use any cleaning chemicals, just plain water. I assume I either caused it or made it worse by using those individually-wrapped "screen wipes."

Thankfully apl decided not to make it touch friendly and gave you a gorilla arm warning/ s

Just got my mid-2012 Macbook Pro Retina back from Apple after the screen started degrading a couple of weeks ago. Only found out about this after Googling the problem. Called Apple customer service and they immediately said to take it in to the nearest store which was here in central London.

Took it in and within a couple of minutes they knew what to do. Straight on the iPhone clicking through menu's like it was second nature. Implying to me that this was quite common. Took 4 days to come back to me and they replace the entire top half of the laptop so it effectively looks brand new.

Personally think it's disgusting that they haven't informed people formally. They know who has purchased because when I called them up, they asked (without me stating) whether it was in reference to my Macbook Pro that I purchased in 2012. Such as shame that they've become so focused on profit over brand - a balance is achievable but then that's what they brought in Tim Cook to do and (to that point) he's achieved with aplomb.

I'd have effused about them for months on end if they had have done. Instead I continue to question my commitment to them and weigh up whether I can switch over to Windows without too much pain.

Very nice of them.
Considering the quality was extremely poor to begin with, being very nice is the least Apple could do.

Completely expected this surface to deteriorate over time. Quality control down in the dumps.

Absolutely my feeling here!

I really wish they'd continue doing stuff like this. I'm pretty sure the parts only cost few bucks or less.
Def makes my 2700 machine worth the money with services like this.
Its good customer service to repair damage like this, should occur more often at Apple.

This happened to me on a 2012 rmbp while ago. The trackpad was clearly visible scratched into the screen as well as like the first row of the keyboard.

when they opened it the battery alsö was loose so they also replaced my battery, the housing and the keyboard free of charge. Bill was dropped from like 640€ to 0€

Now i am always putting one of those soft protectors between the display and the keyboard when i close it which is a bit annoying and shouldnt be necessary on a 1700€ machine

What's causing the delamination? I haven't experienced this yet. Any steps to avoid it?

in my case it was the trackpad and the keyboard rubbing into the display when it was closed

I enjoy whine on these on forums as much as anybody (positive feedback with a negative twist?;)) but I'll throw Apple a bone. They stand behind their products and "man up" more than any other tech company I have ever been associated with. When my 2007 MBP GPU failed after 3 years (2010) I took it to the local Apple Store. They said a new motherboard would be $1K and I didn't have any extended warranty. But they did some more checking and told me they would repair my MBP "for free". In 2 hours I had my MBP back and it has never failed since. THAT makes for loyalty.

Being from the optical industry (in the past) , all you can do is you tisa always he correct AR cleaner and cleaning cloth (microfiber) , or its a shoddy application process that will eventually fail and nothing you can do...so try the AR cleaner/microfiber solution first. Hope it is not a shoddy application process.

Not all AR applications are created equal...see $15 online AR eyeglasses from China
The ones with the AR coating flaking off around the edge look like a combination of poor sealing and people using detergent-based cleaners.

I had problems for years with AR coatings flaking off on my eyeglasses, then read that it was due to using dishwashing liquid to clean my glasses.

Switched to using alcohol-based cleaners (even 91% isopropyl doesn't bother it), or "antibacterial" waterless handcleaners (like Germ-X) that are nothing more than alcohol and glycerin.

Over a year of doing that, and so far, no "freckles" from flaking AR coating...
