I don't understand why people are so against this, if you don't like it, don't use it. I'm sure it's optional.

Personally, I think this has a lot of potential. It would be nice to be able to upload videos and photos from the photos app, or possibly even integrating Facebook chat or messaging into messages.

Oh, no.

I'm sure that it will automatically log you in and synch everything without even asking for permission. You won't even have to give it your password!

You might think this sounds crazy, but BOL reported the other day that Facebook knows your other email adresses even though you never gave them away to Facebook in the first place. So it shouldn't be too hard for them to determine who you are and log you in automatically.

Do not want this, Steve! Bad karma...

Just closed my Facebook account

Bad timing on Apple's part wanting to do business with facebook... they don't care about our privacy.

NO!!! Nooooooo.....nooooooooooooo

FB is evil.

Eventually Facebook will have it's own OS. All your "friends" will know every webpage you visit during the course of the day.
The next step after that will be to integrate the webcam so that people can see what you're doing 24 hours per day.
On the iPhone the GPS will enable all your friends to know where you are 'round the clock.
Yay for more Facebook!

Will it know when I am taking a dump so everybody can leave me alone at least in those moments?? Or it will also make pics of the crap I make so everybody can comment on its shape, density and color? How many ppl will ″like″ it?

Many of the people on this site lost all ability to think critically or logically. 90% of the time they do not even read what they are replying to. They just see the headline and start ranting without any context.

There are many good reasons most privacy group is concern about Facebook.
Unless you want to be live in the open and have your info sold to advertisiers. Worst, you friends info will be leaked out without your or your friends agreement.
The opt you in automatic. EVIL!!

Apple are just playing catchup now. The integration of facebook, twitter etc in android blows the iphone os out the water.

But I don't think most people want it.

Personally I have a facebook, and I love using it to stay connected with people but I don't need anymore integration other than the default facebook app with push and text notifications.

It already wakes me up enough as is haha:rolleyes:

No, there are people who have legitimate concerns about the idea of Facebook having hooks into the OS of their mobile device.

As long as there is an explicit "on/off" switch in the setting it should be okay. If there is integration with no such function, such legitimate concerns are warranted given Facebook's problematic privacy issues.

That's my number one concern. My number two concern, as a facebook user, is the proliferation of facebook across the net. It's obnoxious. I don't want to see what my friends have to say about the news on cnn.com. If I want to see what my friends have to say about the news, I'll check facebook.

when i synced my facebook to my iphone it jacked up all of my contact pictures.

it added pictures for people i'm not even friends with on facebook with random people's pictures.

horrible feature.

They're not FORCING you to use the integrated features - I don't see why everyone is getting so bothered by this.

But I still do hate all the facebook/twitter integration going on. I'd rather have everything as a downloadable option rather than have it as a built in setting.

I don't see why you guys are so against this. If you hate Facebook so much, you obviously don't have one, so more Facebook integration would not affect you at all. Let everyone else who uses Facebook have these useful features.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Negative x1000. Facebook's motto is "be evil."

No thanks. Hopefully people continue to realize that these digital "social networking" communities are just a way for businesses, and whomever else involved, to collect private information of individuals. Would you walk up to complete stranger on the street and start showing them messages and pictures that you send to your friends? That is basically the same thing as using Facebook. Maybe even worse because you don't even know what the person looks like on the other end that operates the systems. Could be that creepy guy playing World of Warcraft from that old episode of South Park.

Even if there isn't an on/off switch, if you don't give it your username/password there isn't much it can do...

Why are you here? You know this is a social network just like many others...

Another "no thank you" here.

Facebook is growing larger, less intuitive, and more invasive by the day. I will likely delete mine soon.

Everyone on the social network should be pondering these issues.

I really don't understand why this is getting such a negative response. I also don't understand how people can even assume this is not an optional setting. Of course it is!

AT&T/Apple is not going to require a Facebook account and password at the time of your activation! You don't need to use it if you're against it, but it's a feature that is there if you do want to use it. I probably will never use it, but I like the fact that Apple is adding functionality to the device.

end of a good run

They won't add Facebook integration to the iPhone OS, it's not their business culture. Seriously, for Apple to do that, they would have to OWN Facebook.

facebook is spam

people on facebook or twitter who join you for lunch are often nerds starring on their devices waiting for a message, a message of someone who is probably sitting right next to them. :p

come on steve, thats too ridiculous and miserable... who needs more facebook features on a breakthrough device like the ipad?

basically - being big does not mean you are good. and if you get too big to fail, you are just too big, right ?! :)
