Last time I was downvoted for saying it was because they had no new content coming for the next 3 months because of lockdowns. 3 months later they have no new content. Ok, almost no new content. Same again this time.

Edit: Happy to be wrong. For All Mankind returns on Feb 19th! :)

I'll take it. I have a reminder set on my phone to cancel the subscription on 1/31. Although I was going to keep it just to watch the second season of Servant since that is one of the few shows I actually watched and liked.

Because TV+ doesn't have a lot of crap (Netflix), IAP (Amazon), or distrust (Disney)?

Apple TV+ loses points for not being available on Windows or other major platforms.

It loses even more points for the quality of content. Not enough for families. Not enough classic content. Nothing that pushes the envelope in terms of storytelling. It's almost as if the content was written by a committee.

That's pretty much what they're doing with their "Buy an Apple product and get free TV+", but they can't say so as it would be considered "abuse of dominant position".
Its only free for the first product. When I bought my iPhone 12 it said free Apple TV but the fine print said for first time subscribers only.

What are you talking about? The stories are well done for their target audience. It's nice to have a small curated library of quality content. There was a time when 'Netflix Original' was a sign it was going to be good but those days are long gone. Amazon's original programing isn't bad but it's hidden in a secret garden of IAP.

The content line up isn't compelling enough. The only video streaming service with enough content is Netflix and second is Amazon Prime Video. Even Disney+ only has "The Mandalorian".
I find Prime frustrating as hell because they also try to sell you rentals. I can't ever find anything to watch on there as I can't seem to figure out what's actually available to me.

I watched The Expanse but that's about it.

Yes. Along with, hundreds upon hundreds of original films, TV shows and documentaries produced by Walt Disney Studios over the course of 70 years - which won't disappear after a few months. It's simply unbearable.
Unless of course some movement claims something is bad and Disney decides to censor it, or change the aspect ratio, or bring back Walt's vault.

The only two things I have watched on Amazon are Grand Tour and Fleabag. Honestly, I think Amazon is slowly melting Clarkson's soul.

There's not enough worthwhile on there for consumers to maintain another sub. It'll probably be rolled into some bundle though so Eddie Cue can save face.

I know. I got my free TV+ with the 11 Pro Max, they didn't extend it when I got my iPad Pro or when I replaced the 11 by a 12 Pro Max. At least they keep extending. I was planning on getting Apple One in February, now I'll wait till August.

awesome...I think with COVID some of their shows/movies, may not have been filmed, completed in time and they'd preferred to have some second seasons in the books while people are still getting Free/trial access...without the second seasons and other shows/movies the TV+ catalog is very lackluster....albeit quality over quantity.

My wife and I have really enjoyed almost every show on the service we have watched and the PQ is great...but she was like there doesn't seem to be a lot on there right now and we can save $ by not subscribing. so, if in the extended time we get more seasons and more first-run shows/movies, then perhaps she will bend a bit on the Subscription.

Really? I got a free renewals when I got a new iPad pro and when we upgrade to the 12 Mini and the 12 pro.

I enjoyed for all mankind as it was a great portrayal of loss and mental acuity, I tried many of the others but I was unable to really feel as though many of the others captured me right off the bat. For me, a show has to reel me in within 5 minutes. If they take too long to dive into the premise I check out.

Ted Lasso is next on my list.

Well, I wanted to stop using my Apple ID that was used to activate the year-long trial in 2019, so I cancelled my trial in October 2020. I use another Apple ID on my device now. Article suggests that Apple would credit to paying subscribers, does this mean that if I am a paying customer now, I will see some free months?

How would this work for Apple One bundle customers?

Says who? Maybe you haven't heard about the following shows:

Queen's Gambit
The Crown
Stranger Things
Bridgerton
Cobra Kai

These are shows that are considered both excellent quality and are part of the pop culture narrative. I participate in a forum dedicated talking about TV series and I can assure you that there are way more Netflix shows being discussed than there are Apple TV+.

Yes, there are a ton of shows on Netflix. Some are crap and some are good. But here is the thing, what one person thinks is crap, another may have enjoyed. I like being able to have a variety of shows.
