Those are all good shows, but that wasn’t my point. My point is that I almost didn’t try them because so many other Netflix originals are terrible. With AT+ I might not like a show but I don’t think it’s bad, simply not for me. With Netflix a lot of it is just bad. Gems you listed, excluded.Says who? Maybe you haven't heard about the following shows:
Queen's Gambit
The Crown
Stranger Things
Bridgerton
Cobra Kai
These are shows that are considered both excellent quality and are part of the pop culture narrative. I participate in a forum dedicated talking about TV series and I can assure you that there are way more Netflix shows being discussed than there are Apple TV+.
Yes, there are a ton of shows on Netflix. Some are crap and some are good. But here is the thing, what one person thinks is crap, another may have enjoyed. I like being able to have a variety of shows.
Agree. For a streaming service this young, people are assuming it’s going to be as robust as Netflix or Amazon. Keeping in mind many of the shows on those services were picked up as they were cancelled (The Expanse was axed by SyFy which still amazes me as it’s a great show). Apple is still inking deals and contracts. I’m surprised they have the content they do now given the short time frame - it usually takes years to establish production, sets, writers, producers, location scouts, studios, then negotiations with directors and actors which can be ridiculously complex (don’t get me started on inclusion riders). Apple already has award winning original series. That’s impressive for a company that has never been in the entertainment industry as a content provider company. The shows are all really good, they just don't have enough of them.

I just came in here to suggest this. I buy a new iPhone every year, or some sort of new Apple product, and it wouldn’t hurt to at least base this on new revenue for continued free TV+.Sheesh. Just make it free on the newest generation of Apple hardware and $5 a month on non-Apple hardware and older hardware. Require hardware upgrades to keep the service 'free'.
This is a good observation. I've watched a few of the shows (or at least a few episodes), and it's like they sat a group of people down for each show and asked them to throw out tropes for the genre and then just adlibbed in the rest.Apple TV+ loses points for not being available on Windows or other major platforms.
It loses even more points for the quality of content. Not enough for families. Not enough classic content. Nothing that pushes the envelope in terms of storytelling. It's almost as if the content was written by a committee.
Yeah, but it all screams Disney...Yes. Along with, hundreds upon hundreds of original films, TV shows and documentaries produced by Walt Disney Studios over the course of 70 years - which won't disappear after a few months. It's simply unbearable.
I think it’s more to do with covid changing all their plans. They propably had very well thought plan to hook people by offering all the time something new, so you just don’t want to end it. The service is now stagnant because new films and movies are really hard to make in current situation. That’s why Apple is giving more time because they try to get into that plan they made for the device.A worrying sign that the service is not performing well ... or that they are hoping people will forget when the service actually ends so that there are renewals
