I mailed my iP5 in when the program with live. got it back within a week. I was hoping they gave me a new iP5 or refurb but I got my same iP5 back and the sleep/wake button was fixed. all good. now I have my iP6.

Well actually the support page where you type in your serial says that there is no need to take any steps if your serial number is affected but the button is fully functional. But as a matter of fact mine isn't, i just can't prove that to the "genius" since it is a intermittent issue.

Don't know what his problem was, probably annoyed by thousands of daily fanboys trying to get a replacement for non existent flaws on their phones

Probably will think about going to another store or trying it again there and ask for a manager

Right, you should be experiencing issues with it to get it fixed or replaced, but it doesn't mean that it has to be completely non-functional as the employee basically suggested.

I do. However he was not willing to take it in for repair since it worked (almost) fine in store. Going to try another time next time i'm getting to town.

I went into the Apple Store on Saturday and they said I was eligible for both wake button replacement and new battery. Is slighy funny, because according to apple.com I wasn't elgible for a new battery. Quoted me 4 days to replace. I couldn't be without my phone that long so they gave me a white 16GB replacement until I get mine back. My phone is 32GB. It's refurbished I know, but still pretty nice.

After confirming eligibility for my IP5, I went to the Indianapolis Apple Store and also was told the program only applied within two years of purchase. Even though I pointed out it was extended, they wouldn't budge. I called support later and they confirmed that I was eligible and even set up another appointment at the Apple Store. She also wrote it up and assigned a Case # so they would see that it was to be taken in for repair. We'll see what happens, but a company that charges top dollar for their products ought to stand behind them, which Apple normally does.

Old thread but current problem. I have 3 iPhones that do not qualify when I put the serial numbers into the validation box. Should I just take them into an apple store to see if they can do anything?

Nothing to lose by trying.
