Last year Intel opened its Fab 52 at its Chandler, AZ campus on the opposite end of Maricopa County from TSMC's fab complex in Anthem. Fab 52 produces its 18A chips (Panther Lake), which are competitive with if not exactly more advanced than TSMC 2 nm, which itself is not made anywhere outside of Taiwan yet.
I'd love to see Intel making chips in the US again and companies like Apple support it. There are too many risks globally with the current setup (sadly).
Yeah but this is what I don’t get… Intel years behind Apple Silicon, especially with TSMC in the mix. And if Intel actually has the know-how, why don’t they just make their own version like an Intel M5 or something?
