. . . . assures Apple users that products they buy on the Apple Store are safe from malware, exploits and just plain old bad coding.
This is a big fat lie. Apple pretends to do this and spends millions to make people think this, but there are so many scamming, badly coded, malware Apps in the Apple App store it is hard to believe that Apple does anything at all.

Out of all the apps in the App Store what percentage do you estimate have their true intention as being scamware?

If it’s so easy to stop scamware, how come all of this phishing stuff is on the rise on all fronts.

You got downvoted for something verifiably and documented to be true, the amount of water people carry for Apple around here is astounding. You'd think people would want Apple to meet the high bar they raised for themselves. This isn't just people blowing off steam, it's saying, "hey all that stuff you say. Heck, all the stuff you've done in the past- we hold you to that high standard." I'd want to get paid to be a sycophant and AstroTurf forums

Edit: come to think of it, could be a bot, dead internet is a real thing as we've done to understand lately. It happens to reddit why not a high profile forum like this

Imo, the downvote may have happened because op didn’t take into account every process is not perfect. Cops aren’t going to catch all speeders. Windows is not going to stop all bugs. Apple is not going to stop all bad apps.

As astounding it is for the amount of water people carry for Apple, it’s equally astounding the other way. The amount of unjust criticism. I guess the nature of the online universe.

Anyone who is defending Apple on this thread:

I strongly urge you to listen to the latest Upgrade podcast, where they discuss this issue.

Then come back here and tell us if you still think that way.

Jason Snell has been reporting on Apple - and been a ‘critical friend’ of them since the early 90s - and what he doesn’t know about Apple probably isn’t worth knowing.

Needless to say, he’s pretty scathing about how they’ve behaved in this case and presents a very cogent takedown of them with his co-host.
amazing podcast recommendation! anyone who’s interested in this legal battle should give that episode a try. It really shows how Apple acted in an extremely greedy fashion and basically broke the law.

thank you!

Jason and Myke were on fire this week, love Upgrade specifically and Relay in general

YEAH! And, Apple should work hard making hardware people want to own and amassing a large number of customers accustomed to and willing to pay for digital purchases! I bet that would convince users to buy the products and developers to make money selling apps to those users!
Apple’s phones would be much less successful without app developers. They even had an ad called “There’s an app for that” to get people excited about the iPhone

Developers would have much reduced revenue without Apple low cost hosting solution. Apple made millions for some devs.
