Yep, pretty sure Apple will be in Russia or China ten years from now. 🤪Stunts like this are what cause company's like Apple to leave and go to other countries that are happy to have jobs for people just saying .

My impression was that Trump doesn't exactly like Tim Apple.I am betting the government will lose, they don't have a good record. They don't have a great track record and if Trump wins they next DOJ can just drop the suit, so it is political too.
Or maybe some of us do, but disagree with how it is used to force companies to open the platforms to those that had no financial interest in its development. If you have the "if you don't like it, build your own" take, save it.
You don't understand anti trust or why it exists.
Trump says he wants to help Cook out “short-term” because Apple’s a “great American company.”My impression was that Trump doesn't exactly like Tim Apple.
Then I'm sorry that you don't understand why markets need regulations, including anti-trust regulations. We recognize those are the kind of things it’s trying to prevent. And we think it’s “insane” (maybe some other word) because that’s not something that should be prevented.
No one has demonstrated anything illegal with Apple’s terms (that’s done by judges, not the EU commission, that can only fine)....as long as Apple's terms aren't (illegally) unfair and anticompetitive - which they've been found in the EU and the US.
Agreed. I’m so tired of this garbage. None of this is an antitrust violation if you can simply choose Android or, dare I say it, a flip phone.
- How the Apple Watch works better with iPhone than other smart watches do.
- How Apple locks competitors out of iMessage.
- How Apple blocks financial firms from offering tap-to-pay services similar to Apple Pay.
- Whether Apple favors its own apps and services over those provided by third-party developers.
- How Apple has blocked cloud gaming apps from the App Store.
- How Apple restricts the ‌iPhone‌'s location services from devices that compete with AirTag.
- How App Tracking Transparency impacted the collection of advertising data.
- In-app purchase fees collected by Apple.
Man, I hate this garbage. Sure as a consumer, it be nice to have some of this stuff more open, but this is Apples product. The government attempting to control how they operate it is insane. It's not like there isn't an alterative to iOS and the Apple Ecosystem. If I ever created an incredibly successful business like Apple I would want to be able to operate it how I please. This is nuts.
Are you kidding? Some folks here would readily welcome such a scenario. "You don't want to use Apple Bank? Go buy an Android. yOu hAvE chOiCEsss!!!"Can't you see the pattern down the road? You might laugh now but if this bullet list continues to go on one day you will be forced to be an Apple Bank customer in order to pay for anything on their devices cause they would not be accepting payments from any other bank issued card. That's exactly how taking advantage of monopoly works.
Tell me you have a narrow understanding of the spectrum of political views without telling me....Tell me you're an anarchist without saying you're an anarchist.
never thought I would see this gif on MR lmfaooooooo
How so? You just go to Netscape's website and download the browser. Not really an antitrust issue. Microsoft got in trouble because they made it very difficult to use competing browsers like netscape. Apple doesn't do that.
I think MS is more controversial as a clear case but it certainly would be a strong case for the second real consumer harming monopoly.Microsoft has entered the chat.
The DOJ is just trying to shake down a company that has been enormously successful and make things crappier for us, the end users. With stunts like this they just might .
I was with the Justice Department until I saw this. This is actually a good thing for the consumer! How App Tracking Transparency impacted the collection of advertising data.
It’s not about understanding/believing. We can have different opinions, and it’s absolutely ok as long as we don’t force each other to act as one wants. Then I'm sorry that you don't understand why markets need regulations, including anti-trust regulations.
you can take healthy market place even further and say Apple should allow Android/Linus to run on iPhone.Because it is within the national interest to ensure a healthy marketplace, which means ensuring competition exists. This isn't a new concept. The government has been going after monopolies since the 1890s in case you weren't aware.
It's really entirely and completely this simple.why should the government tell a company how to operate?
why does the government know better than the people purchasing the product(s)? if people don't like it, they can vote with their wallets.. as they do with LITERALLY every other company.
don't like something? don't buy it.
Yeah because Apple is going to leave its biggest market.... Apple would lose money doing that.Stunts like this are what cause company's like Apple to leave and go to other countries that are happy to have jobs for people just saying .
Yes, that must be it. Someone at the DOJ is saying, "hmm how can I make transpo1's life just a little bit worse." This obviously has nothing at all to do with ensuring markets are properly regulated...The DOJ is just trying to shake down a company that has been enormously successful and make things crappier for us, the end users.
Sure, you can believe whatever you want. No qualms with that. Just like the guy above apparently thinks the DOJ is just trying to make people's lives worse, because reasons. However, if you understood the ramifications of an unregulated or underregulated market, then you wouldn't have the opinion that you do.It’s not about understanding/believing. We can have different opinions, and it’s absolutely ok as long as we don’t force each other to act as one wants.
The EU commission has - and "Apple has been ordered to implement ‌App Store‌ changes that will allow developers to use metadata, buttons, links, and other calls to action to direct customers to purchasing mechanisms outside of the ‌App Store" by a U.S. judge. No one has demonstrated anything illegal with Apple’s terms
More than 50% of consumer spending isn't "low".And finally, Apple has a very low global % of market share, they can’t be anticompetitive even if they wanted to.
