The M1 iMac would be a day 1 purchase for me if they had Target Display Mode again.
And then an M2 iMac after that with the M1* iMac as a matching second screen.

* using M1 to mean first round of Apple Silicon, but may be called M1X, M1Z, M1-16core, whatever.

I'm expected the faster higher end M1 (M1X maybe) chips designed for the higher end 13" Pro, 16" Pro, iMacs and higher end Mac mini before an M2.
Yeah, it makes more sense that they update the numbers yearly, not whenever they want. Like we get a new A14, A15, A16 etc. chips every year, it would be logical to get M2 at the end of this year, not literally 6 months after M1

Apple TV is in dire need, I expect 2 tiers, one a modest spec bump of the current model as the budget release and a beefier one to push gaming.

HomePod I see them doing a minor hardware update to include a U1 chip and maybe quad pairing. then maybe an HomePod Max with deeper bass to compliment the full surround sound stage.

iPod touch and iPad mini should merge products into a slightly larger screen than the iPhone max
For Apple TV, Apple will probably stick to their routine. That is, Apple TV 4K will trickle down as the entry level model at Apple TV HD's $149 price point (maybe a bit less if Siri Remote is redesigned as more simplified remote). New 6th generation Apple TV with leaked changes (e.g., new remote, faster processor, larger storage) at $179 starting price. That isn't to say I wouldn't love more powerful Apple TV with Apple designed gaming controller at higher price.

Home Theater mode revitalized and legitimized HomePod a bit. I like the idea of HomePod becoming more optimized for Dolby Atmos, such as upfiring drivers and pairing multiple HomePods (maybe full 24 supported by Dolby Atmos?). U1 is a given, but I would also like A12 for more powerful HomeKit Secure Video computation (more cameras, more ML logic), more complex audio processing, faster and more responsive Siri, and for future proofing.

I think iPod touch is dead. You can buy a prepaid iPhone SE at $249, activate the SIM for just one month, then use it as WiFi only device.

While I like the idea of iPad mini with 6.7" screen, 7.9" screen on the iPad mini offers almost twice as much screen real estate. I think iPad mini will eventually match iPad Air's design, with smaller bezels and Touch ID as sleep/wake button.

FWIW the HomePod sounds a lot better than a HomePod mini. It’s the difference between a 3 year old MacBook Pro and a new MacBook Air, more or less.

The U1 chip and the Bluetooth Thread should be added to the HomePod ASAP. The non-Mini HomePod should be at least feature compatible with the Mini. My understanding is that Thread needs are hardware upgrade.

(They should both be in the Apple TV too, but that is another story).

Tbh there is no reason to update the HomePod at this point, and personally I am glad they never updated the HomePod alongside the HomePod Mini and instead just brought new features to the existing product.

I think they are going to run the HomePod and HomePod Mini as they are for the next few years to get people on board with their smart speaker before releasing an updated HomePod.

Personally, I think the U1 chip and Bluetooth thread are big enough reasons to update it, even if it is a minor update. Those are features that integrate with other parts of the Apple ecosystem. :)

I agree. I felt weird buying AirPods Max knowing they didn’t have U1. I’m too deep in this ecosystem though, so that’s partially my fault.

Does the 13" MacBook Pro mean the 14" is not coming out this Spring?

Was sure hoping for a redesigned MBP! (Or a mini-led 11" iPad Pro)

"ThunderBoltDisplay"?
And this would be so cool! Loved my old 24" Apple Cinema Display. Would love a new Apple Display!

All I want is a Macbook Air M1 in Surface Pro form factor with the built-in kickstand.

I wonder given just how powerful the M1 turned out to be, if Apple might release a less powerful but ultra-power efficient version of the M1 chip in a reboot of the MacBook. A chip with even half the power of an M1 in a ultra-portable MacBook would would still make a pretty capable computer, and possibly allow for over a full day of battery life.
Im honestly surprised they didn't do a MacBook revival as the M1 launch, eliminate the air, no MacBook Pro yet. but MacBook 12 and MacBook 14 super thin light fanless

Who says they are"Over due"
Right, whether some are overdue or not is subject to interpretation. I merely sorted Apple products on MacRumors' Buyer's Guide by # of days since update.

Apple TV, iMac Pro, and HomePod are undeniably overdue for an update, although I suspect some may quietly disappear from the line up (e.g., iMac Pro).

Absolutely. I don’t know that I’d ever buy another iMac unless it had target display mode. It’s a damn shame that whenever I replace my 2015 iMac, the beautiful and fully functional 27” 5k display just goes to waste.

Right, you’re right. I meant the M1X, or any upgrade compared to the current M1, for the higher end macs. Maybe I jumped too quick on the hype train for those M2 that we won’t probably see until october.

Exactly, that’s what I meant actually. It is too early to see an M2 Now that I think of the release date of the M1 macs.

In late October, Apple filed an unspecified product in the Bluetooth SIG database with a "B2002" name, "Personal Computer" category, and "TBD" model number, and now the company has filed its trio of Macs with the M1 chip under the same entry.

The latest MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini with the M1 chip were added to the listing on February 10, 2021.

While these additions to the database rule out the possibility of the "TBD" item being an M1 Mac, the listing otherwise remains a mystery. Many other existing Apple products can be ruled out too, as there are separate Bluetooth database listings for the iPhone 12 lineup, Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE, AirPods Max, HomePod mini, fourth-generation iPad Air, eighth-generation iPad, latest iPad Pro models, and more.

Products rumored to be in Apple's pipeline for release in 2021 include its long-awaited AirTags items trackers, a new Apple TV, second-generation AirPods Pro, and more, but it is simply unclear what the "TBD" listing represents.

In addition to entire products, Apple does occasionally file components in the Bluetooth SIG database, such as the H1 chip in the second-generation AirPods and the W2 chip in the Apple Watch Series 3. The "TBD" listing has a "Controller Subsystem + Host + Profile" description, so it is possible that it refers to the M1 chip or another component in the M1 Macs and simply has yet to be updated to reflect that, but it remains to be seen.

It’s a collaboration with BMW to bring back the 2002 model.
