Sadly Apple fitness is still not available globally, so I haven’t even been able to try this service. More customisation with Apple One sounds interesting but Apple needs to make their services available more globally in English for those that don’t require the service in their mother tongue.

I find this to be somewhat hilariously sad.

Is it just the language barrier that stops them rolling it out globally I wonder?

It's so bizarre to not offer Fitness everywhere.

I’ve been using it for a couple of years now. It’s a great service that just needs a few tweaks: tone down the cross promotion, introduce some easier sessions (esp on yoga), add stretching etc.
The stacks thing is just a bit weird and flaky, I’m fed up of the number of times I’ve added to a stack and lost the stack. Just call it a playlist and make it work like a playlist.

Fitness+ has a lot of value that's not being extracted by the current leadership. It needs a new head. The app is so poorly organized and the exercises are too repetitive.
Almost all exercise programs are repetitive after a while. There are only so many ways you can lift a weight or run an interval.
Adding kettle bells or bands would be good though.

AF, like the fitness functions of the Apple Watch, ring system, etc, is so year one. As someone said above, why bother trying the services of a company that never improves them.

I tried out Fitness+ some time ago as part of a free trial deal, and it’s just not my thing at all. The fake perkiness of the instructors, the weird Home Shopping Network vibe of the studios - it’s all just a bit off somehow. I doubt that shoehorning AI into it will make it more attractive to me.

The chief of Apple fitness is a sexual predator btw.

Does it really?
Had no idea… explains a few things.

I still use NWS browser bookmarks for the locations I care about.

I still find it to be the best and in a traditional format I prefer.

I live in Brazil and it never matches official world meteorological organization stations. And the forecast explicitly uses machine learning.

One strange thing is that they're leaving money on the table by keeping it geographically restricted. It's not available here in Norway - or in many other countries.

And it's not like they need Norwegian content to sell it...

I probably wouldn't use it anyway as I have a similar subscription - iFit (integrated into the treadmill and bike I have at home) - but that's also all English.

Mark Gurman has now made me both:
- not buy an Apple TV 4K in anticipation of a new model that didn’t come,
and then
- buy one just the same to use out my free 3 months of Apple Fitness+ before it gets cancelled, which apparently won’t happen either…

I should really stop listening to that guy 😅
we all should… 🫠

P.S The service is neat and the device is fine.

That doesn't necessarily have to be the case. This is were the poor organization part comes into play. If they were better planned and used more basic aids, there would be enough variety to not notice repetitiveness.

I’ve subscribed to Apple One Premier since its launch, and while Fitness+ has great potential, I often feel the workouts are geared toward elite athletes rather than everyday people. Aesthetically, I understand Apple’s choice to highlight highly fit instructors, but this leaves beginners, older adults, and those with mobility challenges underrepresented. From an effectiveness standpoint, it would be far more valuable to see workouts designed for all fitness levels including categories like indoor walking or chair-based low-impact sessions.

The Apple Watch integration is a fantastic motivator, but Fitness+ could go further by asking users about their fitness level, joint limitations, and preferred intensity before recommending classes. That kind of personalization would make the platform more inclusive and encouraging for those who might otherwise feel discouraged.

I hope Fitness+ evolves into a truly every-person service that celebrates accessibility as much as performance.

If Apple wants to compete in the services market, they need to start taking their services more seriously. They throw things onto the market and then never look at them again. These products require continuous development and evolution, even independent of major system updates. Since the release of Fitness+, we’ve seen only a handful of small improvements to the app, but nothing substantial. A new minor feature every other major iOS update just isn’t enough.
Why do I have a fitness app on my watch and phone that still doesn't have the basic function of building a strength routine with Exercise > Weight > Sets > Reps. This is personal training 101.

I'd be much more inclined to subscribe to something that can get the basics right first, then Apple can charge me for new routines, or better routines with videos to help me master technique etc. Even alternatives if i'm not progressing or diet recommendations.

But all I can do is track my heart rate and then tell it how much 'effort' I put in - two things anyone doing resistance training does not care about.

Gurman said there is a possibility that Apple will start letting customers pick and choose the services they want in an Apple One bundle in the future, and this might result in Apple Fitness+ remaining available as a standalone service.
This could be really nice.

If the Family plan could have Apple Music, and Apple TV with your choice of News+, News+, or Fitness+, that would be really nice. Even better if they’d give more iCloud storage options, because I’m not willing to pay $37.95/month for the Premier plan but would like to bundle the services I do use.

Last week, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said Apple Fitness+ was "under review," and now he has elaborated on the future of the workout service.

In his Power On newsletter today, Gurman said that Apple Fitness+ may be merged into a broader new Apple Health+ service launching next year. If so, he said that Apple Fitness+ would no longer be available as a standalone subscription service.

Apple Health+ will also feature an AI-based health coach that offers nutrition planning and medical suggestions, according to Gurman's previous reporting.

Apple Fitness+ launched in 2020. The service offers a library of trainer-led workout and meditation videos in Apple's Fitness app, across the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. In the U.S., the service costs $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year.

Apple Fitness+ is also available as part of the Apple One Premier bundle, with U.S. pricing set at $37.95 per month. Gurman said there is a possibility that Apple will start letting customers pick and choose the services they want in an Apple One bundle in the future, and this might result in Apple Fitness+ remaining available as a standalone service.

Does anyone else have problems getting kicked out of an Apple workout mid way through - sometimes many times? My wife loves the various Apple Health cardio streams but she curses it almost every workout because she keeps getting kicked out and has to rejoin. What’s up with this? Using Apple TV 4K, 1GB Spectrum, Eero 7 WiFi.

I'm so tapped out on "AI" getting jammed into everything.
Same here. We need to blame the entire industry and shareholders here. If Apple doesn't do AI, they will fall behind literally everyone else. I wish this AI bubble will burst, and I want it to burst MASSIVELY hard. This is beyond ridiculous.

I concur!

Healthy skepticism is completely missing within a surprisingly large number of Apple customers thought processes. Instead of studying this new technology and approaching it carefully, they are quick to throw caution to the wind and go all in.

At some point in the future AI may turn out to be rather problematic and those that failed to apply critical thinking and went all in may find themselves in a position that may not be reversible.

Elite athletes??? The instructors are fit, sure. But definitely not thanks to the workouts they present on Apple fitness. They’re likely to have their own routines and most likely go to an actual gym and don’t just do free body exercises or cardio.

Being in the uk I didn’t realise this!

Yeah you would’ve thought that it wouldn’t be so hard for them to find over dub voice artists for other languages.

It’s not like there hundreds of hours of content produced each week.

Maybe the ai voice coach you get on the watch is the beginning of them doing this via AI.

Which would be sad, not just for the VO work lost, as Apple fitness feels very ‘human’ with the coaches being fun - something that Apple is not good at doing usually!
