Well, you saved me time trying to find out if it’s available here.Wish they released this service in Sweden.
+1.Since the service is aimed at all users and Apple are representative of everyone then I applaud their trainers being of all body frames. It’s far healthier, realistic and a more body positive message to be sending to users And none are overweight in any way.
Plus, at least 5 of the trainers are British, so I personally don’t feel it to be US tailored. Having said that, I do really like 2 of the British trainers so mostly follow their sessions.
You can take most of the workouts at different levels. Normally there are 3 people, with the trainer in the back on the left going at a slower pace. Follow the one on the right in the back, and you could get your heart rate up, or try a more intense and longer workout. That counts as moderate exercise for the majority of people. The quick rule is moderate intensity exercise is [0.5, 0.7] * (220 - age). So a 30 year old would have moderate exercise with heart rates of 95 to 133. Regular (at least 180 minutes per week) moderate exercise is sufficient to minimize health risks across the lifespan. More exercise or more intense exercise can be beneficial but as far as someone's health is concerned, gains would be fairly minimal.
It seems a very bad plan. A gym membership has a lot more value than this service. Unless you live in the states where apparently gyms seem to have extortionate prices. Where I live for £21 per month I get a ton of high quality equipment, free classes and 24/7 access. I wouldn’t trade that for some videos of people jumping around 😅Going to cancel my current gym membership to try this out.
I don’t want to be ‘represented’ by a personal trainer, I want them to be the best possible version of what they are training.Since the service is aimed at all users and Apple are representative of everyone then I applaud their trainers being of all body frames. I wouldn’t want to subscribe to a language learning school where teachers have various levels of language proficiency to be more representative of the students.
There is so much I disagree with in this I don’t even know where to start replying. This is a false equivalency. Of course a language instructor should be fluent. Just as a fitness instructor should be capable of teaching whatever the class is about. Someone not having a "perfect" body does not mean that they cannot be a fitness instructor. They are not there to be thirsted over. I you think any of the Fitness+ instructors cannot do their job, call them out by name. I don't think you can!
I forget who it was a couple of years ago who was pregnant... the classes are still no doubt online. She took the #1 position (lowest impact) of the 3 instructors in many classes toward the end of her pregnancy.. and also did some specific pregnancy exercise classes. It was great. Are you saying that she should have just stayed home, and that pregnant women around the world should not have had her teach what could be done with their balance/etc altered by pregnancy?
If a teacher is overweight, but can do the moves... isn't that useful for someone who is also overweight and is feeling that they can't do it? Again, as others have mentioned, each workout has 3 instructors doing low impact, medium and high. It makes the workouts approachable by anyone without feeling shamed by their ability as they get started and become increasingly fit.
Again, if they can do the job, what does it matter what they look like?
Epic delivery failure of epically great content. Apple has not listened to any customer suggestions/complains since Fitness+ was introduced:
With massive content, you need powerful filtering. Still missing in action. Suppose I have a leg injury and I can't do lunges (as in a lot of content) - so just standing and bouncing until another move comes up is a waste of time and I want to do upper body. Absolutely no way to filter for that. I could go on and on... but you get the point. I had signed up for a year subscription and while i liked the instructors and workouts (looking at you Bakari and HIIT), it took too much time to find suitable workouts to cover all muscle groups or to avoid groups that were already over-worked by a different workout.
You cannot bookmark workouts, or create meaningful sequences of workouts (and save them) to work all muscle groups, or whatever your goal is.
The content is wasted if it cannot be searched and organized according to customer needs. I'll sign up again if that ever happens.
That would involve sweat, showers, toilets — things that would introduce new challenges. Outside of this, I like the idea. What would be truly amazing is if Apple opened up "Apple Fitness Studios" around the world like they do with Apple Stores. All Apple+ users get free access. That would be world-changing, but extremely expensive for them. Maybe they could open up Stores that have a Fitness Studio within it?
Absolutely agree. It would be great if we could turn off the music audio channel and play our own.
Are you doing the workout on AppleTV or your phone? When I use Fitness+ my rings are shown on the TV along with the calories and minutes I have been working out. I'm wearing an Apple watch and using AppleTV on a big screen. I do turn down the sound since I rarely care for the music they use, but it's not a big deal. I don't do the work out to listen to music, I do it for the exercise.I love Fitness+ and like a lot of things people care about, we always want more.
It would be great if we could turn off the music audio channel and play our own. I’m not into hip hop so there are a lot of workouts I skip over. I’d do those workouts if I could play my own playlist. I get that the workouts are catered to the playing song but perhaps a tighter integration with Apple Music would surface a series of playlists with the same BPM, in different genres.
I‘d also like to see more interactive features on screen. For example, you can’t bring up the currently playing song or tap your rings to see the details. These usually come on during predetermined parts of the workout but very often, you want to tap to see the calories you’ve burned or the minutes youve worked out, and tapping the rings does nothing. Tapping the screen anywhere should just bring up all the details: expand the rings to show numbers, show the player controls and display the song/artist.
You could do one of the "Mindful Cooldowns" before you work out. Ep 42 has stretches for your chest, back and legs.I like Fitness+ if they would add a stretching section to help prevent injuries would be very helpful.
Apple Music is not like any other services … cannot be shared or used by two people with their watches at all. We had a free trial and were eager to use and thought this behavior was a bug. Once we found it was working as intended we quit. We have a lot of services from apple we share between spouse and I but not paying for two apple fitness accountsApple, please let two users connect to the same fitness class with our apple watches so we can both see our metrics displayed on screen when using the apple tv.
I’d be happy with just the ability to mute the music. For some videos I’ve turned on the subtitles and muted the volume as either the music was terrible, the trainer was talking too much, or both. There has been almost zero innovation since they launched. I’ve been asking for the ability to play your own music but apparently that’s just too hard for them pull off. It’s annoying to find the workouts you really want and then have to listen to the same music everyday.
