Apple Fitness has always struck me as a missed opportunity. With the amount of data it's collecting from the watch there's no reason why this couldn't have been delivering a tailored workout plan for every individual based on their individual goals e.g increase running distance, increase rowing speed, build muscle mass etc. Instead they essentially just replicated the Les Mills model you get in the majority of commercial gyms. Very odd decision in my opinion, especially for a company that normally likes to redefine an industry.
Exactly this. Give me a way to set a VO2max, weight or 10k race goals and personalized data-based AI trainer in my Apple Watch to help me hit that goal.

You are not be wrong about your perceptions on the content being US-centric. Americans are a very proud people, to the extent that they think they are the "best", not unlike China or Russia or a dozen other countries. While Apple is a very proud American corporation, I'd like to see them take a truly international effort with their Fitness like they have with Music.
A good few of the trainers are from the UK.

It’s a superb service. I typically only use rowing, treadmill runs, time to walk and sometimes the outdoor runs, but the structure of the workouts is extremely effective and the coaching is excellent. I’d really like to see Bluetooth HRM pairing become possible, though - a lot of people want the metrics from Garmin or Polar/Coros/Suunto etc. that Apple Watch doesn’t *yet* provide. I suspect that’ll change soon - Apple Watch Ultra will make a whole lot more sense with an AI generated training plan behind it.

I do not get it: The overly cheerfully plastic sessions just feel repulsive to me. Am I alone in this?

(Bg. I train 5 times a week. Love running, use Nike Run Club on Apple Watch, like mountain biking, use Calm for some meditations, study various health topics, enjoy Huberman podcast and like,... I have access to Apple Fitness+ through AppleOne subscription, but never use it. While I do love Apple overall, Apple Fitness+ just feels wrong)
I felt exactly the same way. I got over it very quickly. The sessions can be *hard* if you put yourself to work. I recommend it. I used to only row to programmed sets on ErgZone, etc., but I have substituted almost everything that isn’t steady state for Fitness+…and I’m seeing results that prove it’s working.

There are very likely some regions that Apple’s not in a hurry to move into due to the regulatory regimes there. If they don’t offer a service somewhere, then they’re not regulated by that region.
Yeah no. It’s available in parts of the EU and not in other parts. There’s no regulatory issue at all. They could release the service in English in the entire EU and that would be fine since most of these services are English only anyway (like Les Mills)

There has been almost zero innovation since they launched. I’ve been asking for the ability to play your own music but apparently that’s just too hard for them pull off. It’s annoying to find the workouts you really want and then have to listen to the same music everyday.

Well, since the launch they’ve added Pilates, kick-boxing, and Time to Walk.

Would be nice to use your own music, but then again, I’ve discovered lots of great music while doing the workouts.

Since the service is aimed at all users and Apple are representative of everyone then I applaud their trainers being of all body frames. It’s far healthier, realistic and a more body positive message to be sending to users And none are overweight in any way.

Plus, at least 5 of the trainers are British, so I personally don’t feel it to be US tailored. Having said that, I do really like 2 of the British trainers so mostly follow their sessions.

There used to be a guy with one leg. I wonder what happened to him. 🤔

Apple Music is not like any other services … cannot be shared or used by two people with their watches at all. We had a free trial and were eager to use and thought this behavior was a bug. Once we found it was working as intended we quit. We have a lot of services from apple we share between spouse and I but not paying for two apple fitness accounts

Just to be clear.

It can be used by two or more people … unfortunately not at the same time.

I only do the Time To Walk ones and i’m enjoying them, but they all seem to be the same format - celebrities giving you life lessons, about how to overcome adversity and become a better person. It’s like “I was poor! I was abandoned! I was discriminated against!” It’s better when they lay off all of that preachy stuff and just have an interesting chat about their career, sharing some amusing anecdotes.

So F+ is available in Germany, Austria but not in Poland or Sweden due to some “regulatory regimes”? Care to explain, because I’m lost.

I take it you have F+ at a discount price with Apple One. Since Apple is charging a royal sum for F+ it’s just not included in Apple One, at least not in my area. I keep getting those 3-month trial offers from Apple.

Best Apple service ever. For me, at least.
Completely agree. Whether at home or when travelling it’s a great way to exercise - with or without equipment.

It’s funny when travelling and using hotel gyms the number of people we spot who just come in for 5 or 10 minutes, do a very unstructured routine and leave. Sometimes we’ve noticed people trying to figure out what we’re doing and what’s on our iPhone screens.

Both my wife and I have got huge benefits out of Apple Fitness+ - the structure, variety and of course exposure to different trainers and some great music.

I think Apple Fitness+ is working quite nicely as an online service for sports. The integration of Apple Watch metrics is unrivaled and works great, the whole thing is very beginner friendly and the workouts are designed to gently engage the muscles, joints and tendons, thus minimizing the risk of overload and injuries. And being able to use it without the watch just on an iPhone makes it even more accessible.

The only thing I'm really missing out are workouts for advanced athletes. Of course, when performing dumbbell workouts you can just add additional weight, but in other disciplines like e.g. yoga this doesn't help a lot. Usually, the yoga workouts at Fitness+ consist mainly of beginner poses, with the option to perform one or two intermediate level poses in the longer workouts. Advanced or Expert poses are left out completely. But that's really not enough if you want to engage a little more - I'm not anywhere near being an expert yogi, but I use workouts in yoga apps or on youtube which consist mostly of more ambitious poses, and the sequences are a lot more demanding there. In Fitness+, I always have the impression to stay on the "eternal beginner level" - there are a few options to do a little more demanding work, similar to a gym course, but if you already reached a certain level which is not necessarily anywhere near competitive sports, but also not on the greenish side of beginners anymore, there is no real chance to grow.

There are so many workouts now, such a huge number of great exercises to choose from, with new ones added on a regular basis.
I think it would just be great to dedicate a few of the new ones to the advanced sportspeople.
Maybe in a separate section, where members could be warned that the content is only recommended for the experienced? This would minimize the risk for the beginners...
Combining the specific strengths of Fitness+ with a programme for well-advanced athletes would just be such a great opportunity, at least in my humble opinion.
Ah no. I’ve been doing yoga for the past 9 months almost everyday and thought I was making progress. I’ve never been to a real life studio. But now I learn I’m no better than beginner. :(

Ah well, have to keep on practicing!

I must say, it took some time but now I really like it! Still, I have one complaint (controversial, don't shoot me). It seems very US tailored.
It's an app made in the USA but a company in the USA with trainers in the USA. If Im watching BrittBox, I dont complain that the the actors are all British and dont have perfect teeth.
They also tend to use all different types of bodies to show people that working out is not for people that have perfect bodies (there is a guying the treadmill program that is running with a prosthetic leg for crying out loud. If he can do it you can too).
The only problem I have with it is that I had to search around for a trainer I liked that was just enjoyable to listen to that didnt throw their woke rubbish in (I dont need my workout to celebrate musical artists because of their skin tone, I just need to have a workout that gets me moving and lets me lose weight).

I started my 3 month trial during my deployment and have been hooked ever since. I do Yoga daily do warm-up, followed by some other session, be it 45 min Spinning or some Core / Upper Body workout and a HIIT to top it off.

Someone here responded that the Yoga course is somewhat weak. Maybe I'm doing it all wrong but the 30 min energetic flow courses to me at least have some very challenging poses. Besides they have to see what they can actually offer, as nobody is checking on you if you do the poses correctly.

My biggest gripe is the Bass / overall Music volume on the courses. I LOVE the Pure Dance Spinning workout, but when I crank up the volume my Stereo Homepod 2 pair are not as good as they could be. Trainer voices are much louder than the music.

Oh and what I really love is the inclusion: be it gay trainers, people of color, young and old ones, trainers with a disability. I also just love how I discover different music styles.
