Not on our Apple TV, even after update. Maybe our Apple TV is too old? A1469, software version 7.6.2.

Seems like you can use it without the watch.

But you cannot access Fitness+ on an iPhone without one of the Apple accessories like an iPad. It’s also baffling that Apple requires an Apple accessory when an Apple Watch is not needed to watch a video. Fitness+ will be a flop like News+ due to the low user base.

It's strange that the "Try it free" page where you find the link for the iPad app says, "Apple Fitness+ Preview" at the top. The style of the page is also different from the other Fitness+ pages, and the URL is... odd, which makes me wonder if this isn't some sort of pre-release page that was meant to be replaced when the service went live.

That sounds like you have a third-generation Apple TV. I'm pretty sure Fitness+ is only supported on the models that actually run tvOS (Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K), since it requires tvOS 14.3.

There's a very slim possibility Apple could add it in a later Apple TV Software Update for the older Apple TV, as it did for Apple TV+, but I wouldn't count on it, as the older model likely doesn't have the necessary Bluetooth support to communicate with the Apple Watch.

OMG was losing my mind over this thinking I’m the inky one. While yes I’ll be using it mostly with the Apple TV, need the iPad app for on the go workouts.

I suspect somebody left the flag on in the Fitness app that says an Apple Watch needs to be paired with the device, and since you can't pair an Apple Watch with an iPad, you can't actually download it 😀

This is actually the same message that's always appeared if you tried to download the Fitness or Activity app onto an iPhone that doesn't have an Apple Watch paired with it.

Will be a flop like the Apple Watch...

comparing news site to fitness is quite a bad comparison

I'm not sure I see the point of Fitness+ if you don't have an Apple Watch. There are plenty of free fitness videos on YouTube that provide a video-only workout experience for $10/month less than Fitness+ costs. The Apple Watch integration is the only thing that makes Fitness+ particularly unique.

On the other hand, it seems like Apple Watch owners are exactly the key target market for Apple Fitness+ anyway, as I suspect most Apple users who are that fitness-oriented likely already have an Apple Watch or have at least considered buying one.

In fact, I think Apple Fitness+ would only be comparable to Apple News+ if it didn't have the Apple Watch integration to set it apart. The entire problem with Apple News+ is that it's not really distinguishing itself by providing any information that most users can't find elsewhere. Likewise, Apple Fitness+ without the Apple Watch would just be a bunch of YouTube playlists.

An Apple rep confirmed on messages that they’re working on fixing this issue on the iPadOS. No ETA, but acknowledged its an issue. Guess I‘ll resume on the Apple TV.

Working on iPhone, Apple TV (4th Gen.) and Watch. No issues and will wait for iPad. Looks to be very well put together from my brief looks via Apple TV.

Thanks for the link MR. When I searched the App Store directly for the Fitness app I came up empty. Fitness app is now installed on my iPad Pro 12.9 and I am ready to get started with my 3-month free trial of Fitness+.

With this app now on the iPad, it’s about time the Health app come over to iPad as well.

Not just the health app, but it would be nice if the fitness app showed the summary page like not he iPhone (allowing you to look at workouts, trends, activity rings, awards, etc.). All of that data is synched to iCloud, so it would be easy for Apple to download.

Anyone having issues downloading on iPhone? Can’t get the app even on 14.3.
As long as you have an Apple Watch paired to your iPhone, the app is already there by default — Apple Fitness+ is inside the normal Fitness app (the one that used to be called "Activity"). It simply appears as a new tab at the bottom in between "Summary" and "Sharing."

I have an original iPad Pro 12.9" running iPadOS 14.3 and as of this moment, 0740 EST, it's still not showing up in the App Store for me.

It may still not be showing up in search — try the direct link from the article.

I was able to see it in the App Store via direct link right from the time iOS 14.3 was launched, albeit it the error message that I couldn’t install it. Once Apple fixed the problem, however, it still wasn’t showing up in search results ... and in fact it’s still not showing up for me, even though I actually do have it installed now.

My iPad is my most used device. I was hoping that it would include the activity information :). But I'm happy to know that I can use my iPad for this instead of dancing in front of the TV. lol.

I am still not able to download the Apple Fitness app on my brand new iPad Air.
All my devices (phone, watch and the IPad air) are on the latest version.
I do not see the app in the App Store. When I try to share it from my phone to the ipad (or follow the link in this article) I find it in the App store, but no option to install. Message is "This app requires specific features not available on this device".

Any idea?
