I love the workouts. But they need to have a workout focus instead of a music focus.

They are opbsessed with the turns and you can’t filter by workout type (upper or lower body for instance).

And you have to put up with the woke nonsense
I am really not a fan of woke or gender corrected language. And I have not yet come across such intrusive wokeness in Apple Fitness+. The „wokest“ statement was that someone was pregnant and that other pregnant women (!) should see their GP before they work out hard. That is pretty harmless. And then there is the finishing statement „stay active, close your rings“. But that’s really it. I’ll get over those 10s in total.

I am using the treadmill and indoor cycling workouts at the gym and I have found that the guided workouts are entertaining and motivating, much more than just a playlist to pass the 30min on the AMT. It’s only been a month that I have got Apple Fitness+ and I get it for free included with Apple One, but I think it‘s great and I would pay for it if I had to.

Lmao, what woke nonsense?

And yes, you can filter by upper/lower body.

My guess is they are unable to emotionally cope with the diverse line-up of trainers and/or occasional theming around representational holidays like International Women's Day, Pride, etc.

Anyway, Fitness+ is phenomenal, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it integrated with my existing routine. Most of my workouts are quite long, so when I'm low on time, Fitness+ along with the rings always convince me to squeeze a workout or wellness practice in.

I enjoy the service quite a bit. That being said, I can’t give a blanket endorsement given the following circumstances don’t apply to everyone:

• Apple One Premier would be a good deal for our family of 4 even without Fitness+, so it very much feels “free”.
• We live in a desert that makes exercising outside during the summer completely miserable.
• Our kids are young and will do the Dance workouts with us.
• I’ve never enjoyed gyms.
• We own a (dumb?) stationary bike.
• The adults would be Apple Watch users regardless of the service.

So yeah, we love it. But totally understand that it wouldn’t be for everyone.

I was kinda interested in this until I saw you have to have the watch to use it even if you are paying for it, lol, that's ridiculous.

Love it, particularly this time of year in Canada when it's so flipping cold outside and I'm forced to work out in my living room.

Unlike Apple Music this is one to one tied to an Apple ID. So we have an Apple ID with Apple Music and everything else which all functions fine on Apple Watch with a different Apple ID…but if you get apple fitness well then it all breaks down. Bad design decision that we learned about during the free trial so nothing lost.

Apple certainly makes it difficult if you don't have a watch. What I have recently figured out is that you technically only need a watch to gain access to the app for the first time. The watch setup is what allows you to download the fitness app. It's unavailable if you don't have a watch. If you have an iPad or iPhone just borrow someones watch for about an hour.

I'm testing out a free trial right now. My wife doesn't have an Apple Watch but she does have an iPad. She wants to use the workouts and doesn't care about tracking anything since she uses a Fitbit.

I realized that you only need an Apple Watch long enough to setup Apple Fitness. So, I unpaired the watch from my phone. Signed out of my account and signed in with her account. I then setup the watch under her account. Once the watch was setup, we were able to download the fitness app onto her iPad. The app is only available to people that have a watch. Once it is downloaded to the iPad the account is setup. I then unpaired the watch and set my phone back up to my account and watch. Now, she has the fitness app activated on her iPad. She can start the workouts on the iPad and choose the "workout without watch" option when it pops up. Then she just uses airplay to Apple TV.

It's ridiculous that we have to do all of that for a paid service.

I find it kind of ironic how Apple talks about how inclusive Fitness+ -- IIRC one of the trainers is an amputee -- yet the service isn't accessible to the vision impaired. When they showed that video about Fitness+ at one of the recent keynotes a friend and I just sat back and thought about how excluded we felt.

VoiceOver does read out messages that pop up on screen during a workout, like if you close one of your rings, but the workouts themselves aren't accessible at all. To be fair, this would be a challenge to implement for sure. Just adding audio descriptions to the workouts like they do for Apple TV+ shows wouldn't work because it probably couldn't keep up explaining what the trainers are doing, never mind that you would completely miss out on what the trainers doing the modified versions are doing if need that. And then there's the question of if they're doing a workout move, like planking, and you have no idea what that means, how do you explain that in nonvisual terms? Perhaps they could have pop up text descriptions of the workouts that could freely and easily be reviewed with VoiceOver before starting the workout. Beyond that I don't have any ideas, but it's disappointing that there's little accessibility in the service right now.
And yes, I have already provided all my feedback to Apple when I got a random survey about my Apple Watch.

My wife rarely uses it … said it felt too beginner-like and needs some more advanced programs.

I don’t know anyone else who uses it or ever hear talk about it outside of this site.

Just got my renewal email in today. I Will absolutely renew. I used it every other day. The best subscription I have.
Agreed! 3 x per week along with my usual walks. The monthly challenges and Watch/ring closing events make this a great addition to any total health regime. Definitely a keeper for me.

I still find it funny that in every pic ever done of Fitness+ the people are smiling. I just never see that many people smiling and laughing while doing workouts in the gym...
You‘ve got to be in the shape they’re in and get the pay they probably get to do what they would probably be doing anyway?!

They added filters for upper and lower strength training a couple of months ago.

And a year later, most of the trainers are still saying, “Do the easier modification with Kim, or do the full version with Sam and I.” When it should be, “…. With Sam and me.“

No reason whatsoever the grammar can’t be correct during the workout. Very frustrating.

But I still love the workouts and use the service regularly.

Good tp see so many positive comments on Fitness+. I tried it on release for the 3 month trial and it wasn't for me but may give it another trial. At the beginning you were able to queue workouts on the phone but these wouldn't sync to the TV so that was frustrating.

There also wasn't the ability to chain together workouts to create a session or it wouldn't suggest, say, back and biceps. My Watch contacts also didn't like being spammed with notifications after every session so hoping it now only sends one notification at the end of a workout.

I think it’s a good value service when bundled into Apple One. So far have enjoyed some of the the spin bike, HIT and yoga classes. I’d prefer to select my own music. And I’d prefer it if it was possible to create a schedule of classes to achieve a particular goal. The way it works now is a bit hit and miss, there is little guidance as to what level classes are and how to string them together into an effective program. Which means random browsing through classes and then guessing which one to go for. I’ve been considering trialling the FiiT service as an alternative, which seems more programmatic, but the simplicity of Apple Fitness and the watch integration keeps me in for now.
