Whats the worse case scenario?...sorry I have no IT knowledge, but my phone has no sensitive data,it does have some pics of our cats kittens though, would a hacker be able able to view them?

Yes...

And load a rogue dialler programmed to run up a tenner's worth of "random" premium rate calls each month...

And load a text duplicator to the number of his choice...

Actually, the limits are only those of the hacker's imagination and ability.

Seriously? No update for ipt1 and original iPhone?

Apple’s effort in persuading users to upgrade starts to annoy me, seriously.

It's a FreeType vulerability. We have the code, just compile it, and then ssh it into the old school iPhone, right?

All these people and no one owns Handy Light, and can test it after installing 4.0.2?

I take back my earlier statement.. I know this release doesn't mention the fix for the proximity issue, but mine has "magically" disappeared after updating! I have made 4 calls of about 15 minutes each or so and have not had the first problem for the first time since I bought it! Not sure what is changed, but so far it is working for me!

All is right in my "i" world! :apple:

I have a couple of questions here, I want to Jailbrake my G3S, so I wont do this update...but:

1.- Some people think that jailbrake it with the jailbrake.com method is asking for trouble, is it true? How many of you have used that method and everything seems working fine?

2.- If I realize that Jailbraking my iPhone was not a good idea, can I have it back to the standard iOS?

Thank you so much,

Is this happening to anyone else?

I am sure you didn't mean it but this comes across like the biggest Apple apologist statement I have seen in a long time LOL :)

LOL, it totally seems that way now that you mention it. Obviously, this exploit is not cool.

Regardless of the exploit, I like the fact that iOS is reinstalled each update. I do clean installs of all OSes every six months to replace the patches with cumulative updates just for better performance. There are several benefits to doing so.

jailbreak is no longer illegal. it was pass in congress. so now anybody can jailbreak their iphone whatsoever. I don't understand why Apple took action like this. it will be trouble if anybody will argue with it near the future. then what Apple has done today would be illegal. they don't have a right to force something ban because they don't want. sometimes, they have to follow even though they don't agree. I'm done with Apple.

Patching security holes is not illegal....Apple does not have to provide exploits for jailbreaking even if jailbreaking is legal:rolleyes:

Some people need to get their facts straight

Apple today released updated versions of its iOS operating system, addressing a significant security vulnerability in the way Safari handles PDF files on Apple's mobile devices.

Apple don´t ban jailbreak. They solve a security issue.
