They better have dozens of test units in Apple Stores because the only way this would sell is when people try it on. Meta Quest, PSVR, etc. is mind blowing the first time you try it out and see depth and how everything reacts to the slightest head movement.

Here it is the Apple headset bla-bla-bla any questions??? When will it ship??? Hey how about the new Macbook Air!!!! Any other questions???? What is the price of the new headset??? Hey lets see the new video we spent hours making.... House light dim.
It seems Apple is putting more effort on the video than the actual product at this point.

Meditation, maybe… but who wants to exercise with this on their face?
Imagine trying to workout with those massive goggles attached to your head lol
Exercise is one of the more popular uses for VR's userbase right now, and this headset will be at least half as thin as most headsets.
This product will BOMB HARD and send apple's stock price down with it. Time and time again it's been proven that the majority of consumers don't want and don't care for metaverse/VR/AR products. Most recently, the PSVR2 has bombed and Sony's cutting production down

Just release it as a developer kit, don't advertise it as a consumer product for the love of god
Take a trip back to the early 1980s and you can rewrite your comment as "Time and time again, it's been proven that the majority of consumers don't want and care for PCs. Apple's Lisa and Macintosh products will bomb hard."

I mean Apple did suffer some problems back then, but the actual industry itself was built up over time.

This may be the biggest flop in apple history just you watch no one is going to buy or pay for $3,000 for this headset

I'm less excited about playing golf, shooting zombies, or working out with one of these headsets and more intrigued about possibilities for meditative, immersive environments: Walking through a bamboo glade in Japan. Exploring a forest trail in New England at the peak of fall color. Lying under palm trees on a beach in the Maldives.

I'm interested, but at this price point I'm waiting for Gen 2 at the earliest. It's just way way too much to spend on a first-generation product with Apple's track record for major leaps between Gens 1 and 2 of a product category.

As I see it its not a problem about consumers not wanting it (I know I want one) its a matter of price. I will not spend $3K on it, but at $1K it would really be entincing.

If Apple really wants to make this category work they should think about subsidizing it for the first couple of years until mass addoption and components costs have gone down.

That really shouldnt be a problem with all the profit Apple is making now. Just let the shareholders figure out how to see the forrest from the trees.

This is just a list of the stock iPhone apps, but on your face.

If that’s what to expect then it doesn’t sound particularly inspired.

Also Memoji!! These things just won’t die will they. I’ve no idea what Apple sees in having avatars that make you look like a child.

I think ultimately, for Apple, this is just a backup plan that they will keep at for a while. If and when the 2D desktop becomes antiquated for the next generation of knowledge workers born 10 years ago or today, they will have a solution for them.

This is the first I've heard that gaming is a possible feature of this headset so now I'm interested. It will obviously depend on the quality of the games and the price of the headset though. If it's $3k those games better blow me away otherwise I'll just get a PSVR2
