Did they explain how I myself as a mere mortal can get blood out of a rock in an economical way? I see what they are saying in these videos but they come off like they are sniffing their own farts. I am happy for them and congratulations to them, however none of this means anything to the average person.

I don't like at all this politically correct stuff, but one thing that for sure would be greatly welcome is a solar MacBook. If they are able to design a solar MacBook, I'd get one. I'm skipping all these political correctness videos, though.

You can consider these things to be "politically correct," but it's kind of the opposite, since these are voluntary efforts, not government-enforced.

Do they pander to a particular political viewpoint? Yes. So, for that matter, does "Burn more coal" (which is, apparently, the politically correct attitude in Washington DC these days). But pandering to public opinion (which is rarely ever unanimous) is is just plain politics. Someone will consider it correct, someone else will consider it incorrect.

There's an old saying, "Waste not, want not." Waste, by its very nature, is going to be more expensive than avoiding waste. Using the same piece of land to both generate solar power and graze cattle can be more productive than doing either of those alone. Finding a buyer for your used plastic is likely to be more productive than paying to burn it in an incinerator. Using natural air circulation to help cool a building is likely to be more efficient than depending solely on electrically-powered equipment. Whether any of these are actually more productive can be determined by good, old-fashioned accounting. If it makes sense to the number crunchers, if it increases profitability, then it's going to be "politically correct" to even the most ardent Capitalist.

As to that solar-powered MacBook? Maybe it makes sense, maybe not. I'd argue that putting solar panels on the roof to power not only the MacBook but anything else plugged into the wall is likely to be more efficient and practical.

Cute, but too Deep for most Americans. :apple:

Very true. And which is also to say, not too deep at all.

It's really more like "scientifically correct".

How can they discuss green initiatives and not come off that way to you? What Apple is doing with their PR here is leading by example. Hopefully other companies are inspired and follow suit.

I think its a no brainer to think green. You don't need to be an environmental extremist to understand that you can't keep harvesting the earth when you're with billions and billions of people on this small planet. It's good to see technology be used with also environment in mind.

In my opinion every company on earth should do their best effort in producing environmental friendly. And everyone of these billions of people should at least realize why this is necessary. As I'm living in one of the densest populated areas on earth I truly care for that little nature what's left.

Did they make a video about why TeamViewer connects to my remote Macs flawlessly, yet Back To My Mac is hit or miss?

Your comment is strange since the topic isn't political in nature.

The only thing could make it political is that a select group of politicians seem to like denying science when it doesn't suit them for political gain.

How in the world is politically correct or incorrect? Conservative bogeymen keep getting more and more bizarre...

So uh... taking care of the planet is being politically correct now? So... trashing and destroying the planet is some sort of edgy truth? I don't understand...

I love the message here, but I really hate these videos. They're so creepy and in all honestly just trashy for a company like Apple who's entire feel comes from having a clean and classy feel.

How about a crash course on how Nuclear is the most safe and clean option we have right now?
I was in Barnes and Noble cafe a month ago, listening to this young 20-something go off on how wind power is the future and no country has been able to safely and effectively harness nuclear power, using Japan as a cautionary tale. As I walked by on my way out, I commented to the person he was talking to, "ask your friend about where France get's the majority of their electrical power from." I hate interjecting like that, but despise uniformed soapboxing even more.

I am reading top comments (replies) and feeling so bad for our Apple community. What is wrong with the ads? I don't get it. Looks like YouTube is liking them more than disliking and it received nothing but positive feedback on reddit and other outlets.

As filmantopia said on reddit:
comments calling the videos weird, un-Apple-like, creepy, too politically correct, self-ingratiating, "like seeing how sausage is made", condescending, smug, "nightmare fuel", "sniffing their own farts", trashy, etc.

Ya, this community has really gone downhill in the past 3 or 4 years. I mean, people here have always been complaining about what Apple does, but recently it's gotten much more toxic and gained a real nasty alt right taint.

Those were some of the worst looking videos I've ever seen come out of Apple. Where was Johnny Ives when this was happening?

The last video makes more sense, but will only cool from outside air if its cool air...... You won't get much if that in summer.

Sooo with this does it mean we are seeing less disposable iPhones and Macbooks in the near future?

No one really has to see videos to know that... Just look at the current products will see the trend going forward...

Makes little sense for Apple to go in one direction, then change their mind and *all* products would be big and bulky..

The exception is the odd one like the iPhone SE which makes sense to keep manufacturing costs cost down.. Basically the SE is thick still because it would cost more to go thin...
