This kind of customer satisfaction move goes back a long time. 40 years ago, I ordered a Mac 512Ke and got upgraded to a Mac Plus at no extra charge.

Look at what this story says, and now look at how many negative comments there still are.
If Apple said they would give away 100,000 new Mac Minis for free, there are people here who would look desperately for reasons to complain.

I've heard of it happening more often than that. It is sporadic, though.
From the perspective of someone who ordered the Studio, I feel cheated. I've been waiting for delivery for over three months, and suddenly Apple announces that my computer is outdated before it even arrives.
I can't cancel the order because I bought it before the price increase. I can't afford the Studio at the new price.
I wouldn't be upset if the computer was delivered within a reasonable time.

I would hope that Apple does the same thing for you that the item describes them doing for Mini customers, and simply ship you the Studio you ordered but with the upgraded chip now that production is ramping up on the new machines. Fingers crossed.

I know some people will complain about this - because, of course - but I think it's really cool of them.
