Foxconn has about a million employees. Maybe 200,000 work on Apple products. So what do you think should happen? People working on Apple products make more money for the same job? So what will be the next news? 800,000 employees threaten suicide because they get paid less for the same job?

In the US people tell you that waiters have to share their tips with many people at the restaurant :p lol..

----------

People don't tip in China, or most Asian countries. ;)

Actually, people don't tip in most countries, period. Don't get me started on American tipping standards and the ever-increasing minimum percentage. Maybe if they actually paid waiters the minimum wage, or even a little more...

I agree with you but I mentioned this because this is an American company and since Americans are so in to tipping why is Apple not tipping nor paying dividends:confused: Shows how cheap they can be;)

The tipping analogy is so bad it's not even worth arguing.

It's actually a very good analogy. In both cases, employees are both at work and provide a service. In both cases (on both sides) the employees are employed not by the customer but for the place they work at so the person or company they work for is responsible for their salary.

It is not the responsibility for the end user to fork out another 20% on top of the retail price that they are paying for an item that they are getting or purchasing (in this case a $500-800 iPad  ) In both cases employees feel underpaid.

No, it's awful.

Everyone in every job could then be compared to wait staff.

Will I get tipped for collecting garbage, customer service calls, McDonald's serving, selling you a car, building you a car, etc etc.

Do you tip your circle k checker? Target sales clerk, and on and on and on.

No, I don't.. I'm not exactly for tipping;) My post was geared to all the Americans who love to tip for everything. Those people call those that don't tip cheap and this shows how Apple is towards people who work for them and who invest in them. Here in Asia where I am at very few tip.

Oops :). My mistake.

I urge any of you to listen to the following:
http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/454/mr-daisey-and-the-apple-factory

It opens our minds to actually think about the people who make our stuff, who work long hours performing the same repetitive silent motions until their hands cannot move anymore. They are not robots.

I listened to most of it, interesting if a bit overdramatic -- his "one man show" telling his story apparently costs $85 a ticket. You have to wonder about the objectivity -- he's got to tell a good story, after all.
