Well, by combining 2 chips into one (-> A10 Fusion), you can have a dedicated Chip for high end use cases (Gaming, etc.), and a low power chip for Facebook, Twitter and so on, which results in much better battery life!

Interesting! I like it.

Doesn't Apple have 1,000 people working on chips? They could certainly pull off something like this.

That's the advantage of designing your own chips to work with your own software... something that very few companies could ever do.

Imagine if someone like HTC wanted to do this. First they'd have to convince Qualcomm to make a dual-chip package... and then they'd have to get Google to support it in Android.

It certainly makes it easier if you control the ENTIRE device.

90 minutes to go... let's hope we see some exciting things!

Likely means storage is moving to the A10 chip as part of the SoC - system on a chip. Which likely means, this will make the iPhone thinner in the future by removing one more component.

I think that integrating the processor iteration number into the name symbolizes that this will be something that sticks around for a while. Say... a 4K Apple TV?

Really hoping it wasn't just an empty trademark filing and we see something exciting and unique on stage here shortly.

Just over an hour to go until I know for certain I'm getting the Surface Phone and not the iPhone 7. Apple will have to do something amazing to wow me back into their EcoSystem...

Perhaps the new CinemaDisplay will be powered using an A10 system on a chip?

Feeling the same way about the incoming Google Pixel phone(s). Tried migrating my data this week to the Google Ecosystem and found it highly intuitive to use with the rest of Apple's product range (i.e. OS X / MacOS products) and I straight-up have never used other iOS-exclusive features like "continuity" so I really don't see much holding me back from making the switch UNLESS the iPhone 7 can do my laundry or something.

A real Surface Phone would just be a hyperportable Windows PC. Apple would be behind again, as with the tablets.

Fusion powered. No battery needed. That's why it's no big deal to remove the headphone jack and no longer be able to charge and listen at the same time.

If the MacBook Pro comes out today, I at the very least will tear up but would not be surprised if the floodgates don't come open like a levee in a Louisiana hurricane.

Control Strip. Could the new MacBook Pros indeed be coming in 2.5 hours?

Not that they get any 'secret' info but, just now when MSNBC announced there is an Apple event today, they said Apple would unveiling several products, including iPhone, iWatch, and MacBook (Pro?).

I thought this was to be an iOS and its devices only event,?

Just hours after lawyer Brian Conroy unearthed several Apple trademark filings, including iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, Iris Engine, AirPod Case, Touch Bar, Smart Button, Control Strip, and more, MacRumors reader Ryan Simmons has uncovered additional trademark applications for "A10 Fusion" and "iSight Duo" filed in Brunei.

"iSight Duo" would be a logical name for the iPhone 7 Plus' widely rumored dual-lens camera system, but what "A10 Fusion" could represent is less clear. Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are expected to have faster A10 chips, while Apple's only use of "Fusion" is for the Fusion Drive, which combines flash (SSD) and hard drive (HDD) storage into a single volume on select iMac and Mac mini models.

Both trademark applications were filed on June 8, 2016, while Simmons also uncovered recent trademark filings for "Depth" and "Writeboard," which could be features or functions related to the Apple Pencil. Assuming the "iSight Duo" dual-camera system has one telephoto lens, as rumored, "Depth" could alternatively pertain to depth of field photos on iPhone 7 Plus.

It is likely that Apple's announcements at its iPhone event in San Francisco today will shed light on at least some of the trademark filings uncovered over the past two days. The keynote begins at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, and MacRumors will be providing live coverage of the proceedings.

I did hear a rumour that apple was working with amd on some specialised GPU.
Don't you mean a customized APU, like in consoles? In this case, it could well be A10 based.

Naming some other kind of AMD product A10 would make no sense.
