Yeah, they do not intend to fix it today, tomorrow, or whenever.
Fact is time bound. Theory/speculation/conjecture is not. Therefore, what you said is still a theory, or prediction, not a fact.
So it's not a feature and wasn't promoted yet it was a benefit? Why wasn't it a feature that was promoted then if it was a benefit that they supposedly were hoping would lure people into getting the new devices? That doesn't really follow.
Apple doesn’t market the RAM yet it has real world benefits. Apple does not market the display on the Plus phones being sharper than the smaller ones yet that’s a benefit. Apple doesn’t market the TrueTone technology on its iPad Pro 12.9, yet it can be a benefit to some(not me).

There will be the same fashion of delay implemented to avoid wrong actions as gestures are much more prone to user error than pressing a button. I bet.
I saw the app switcher animation. There is no input lag. Just a split second animation.
No there won’t. You are using gestures on a touchscreen as opposed to a button. It will be the fastest implementation of navigating the OS even perhaps including Android in the equation although the Pixel has faster animations which may negate it.

Maybe speed wise it is great. But still, prone to user error, with much higher possibility. I would love to see how many people bickering the sick gesture while using iPhone X. I do not need to elaborate countless times I cannot pull up control center, cannot pull down notification center, or cannot properly slide a few notes in the game, etc., etc.
At least something like TrueTone is called out as a feature and listed in specifications. If something like the capacitive button is faster than the regular one when closing apps isn't even mentioned then how could that be said thst it is being used as something to lure people to buy a new device if that's not a benefit that is mentioned for them to even consider?
You said the single click on desktop is not comparable because it lacks animations. Animations have nothing to do with the delay. On Android, by turninmg off the animations the home button response is still instant. I have a cheapo Moto G with me and its home button is actually faster than my iPhone and I can disable animations and it works just fine.
I think people will get used to it once they find how effortless it is. Its going to be faster than the iPhhone 8, that much is certain.
Its a well known fact that the 7 Plus keeps more apps in memory and has a better display than the smaller phone despite Apple not marketing it. The Fusion chip can also sustain higher clock speeds for longer because of the bigger body which can make the phone slightly faster in heavyily demanding apps, again something not marketed by Apple. People find out about certain features not talked about once they get the phone. Apple doesnt need to advertise every small detail. They hinted at it when the marketed it

Yes they do. The delay is to prevent the app closing animation beginning before the double click period ends, the same as it always has, save for one phone, for on year. You know this. This is beyond tedious.

This has nothing to do with software. It’s describing hardware only. It doesn’t say the response will be instant, .1 second, 1 second or 10 seconds. That’s the function of software. So I’m that vien response to act can be any time.
the fact remains it was instantly responsive on iOS 10 when the iPhone 7 was the flagship.
That may very well be a fact. The reasons (or lack of them) behind it all, is a different question.

I have instant response on my iphone 7 under ios 11.1. Not sure why you don't, but everybody's experience is different.

Radon is telling the truth. The home button is noticeably slower on iOS 11 that it was on iOS 10. If you’re not noticing it, then you’re not paying enough attention, or you don’t care.

seriously, the real world is much much bigger than this forum. and, unless you can prove what you believe to be true, it's just what it's been throughout this thread; a belief. and a belief is not automically a fact (no matter how hard you believe...).

iOS 11’s home button response time is slower than iOS 10. But only with iPhone 7s. If you have any other phone, you won’t notice it.You are saying the exact opposite of what I said. I said it's there in every device but not everyone notices it. It's a undeniable fact that it's there.

"it has already been proved"... that ALL ios users are having the same issue you are? (i mean, i don't...). where is this proof exactly??? saying it's been proven isn't the same as providing proof.
Notice what happens when he presses the both home buttons at the same time? There’s your proof. I didn’t need to watch this video to notice it, but I guess some people do, so here you go.

how many iphones are in that video? and how many iphones are out there in the world? one video proves that something is happening... for the phones in that video. it doesn't prove that the issue exists for everyone, and, based on other's reporting on this forum, it doesn't.
Why don’t you hold up your iPhone 7 next to the video and press the home button right when he presses it? See for yourself
You don’t need every Note 7 on the planet to explode to discern an issue exists
By your logic, feedback is worthless as the company can just take a cop out by saying, it’s your device and in the absence of response from the other 99% users this issue does not need fixing.
All devices on the planet on a clean install perform exactly the same ceteris paribus
