Who thinks Leopard will pull an iPhone on Vista? Leopard will be to Vista was iPhone is to Zune.

We can probably take some design hints from the iPhone UI as well, directly instead of metaphorically.

I think your correct that Apple is showing us what Leopard might look like with the GUI of the iPhone. I really hope Apple follows through with that. I'd love to see alot of black elements, yet still be able to use white if I wanted.

I haven't actually used it yet but from the screenshots that I have seen I don't really like the look of Vista much more than XP.

I think what bugs me about Aero, aside from repeating many of OS X's early mistakes is that it looks SO SCATTERED. Apps vary in appearance from window to window, there are different colors in different places for no apparent reason, no sense of cohesiveness, just a lot of elements thrown together. Yuck!

OS X isn't perfect in that regard either, but it feels better than Vista. It all feels like it's all part of the same OS, whereas Vista from app to app carries traces of all the versions of Windows that came before it. It doesn't end up feeling like an overhaul, just a new coat of paint... on the borders of windows.

I concure. I think it's essential for apps to have various UIs. How else would we be able to tell Safari from Mail from iTunes in a split second? However Vista's is too much.

On another point. I think Apple does need a new design direction because a lot hasn't changed since the TiBooks and the introduction of OS X. My MacBook looks almost like my old iBook. The white minimalist look is getting old and everyone is copying it. We need a change.

I might get a Thinkpad next time around if Apple doesn't give us something new.

I quite like the flip through windows bit of Vista, but that's about it.

So you'd rather have a ThinkPad based purely on aesthetics?

Oh well, to each his own. :D

Yes! Apple's look has become foppish and it's as overdone as barcelona couches.

I need a tough portable that's also light. A Thinkpad T or X series fills that niche for me. Besides I'll still be able to use an iPhone with it. :)

Oh well, guess this long time mac user is just bored with Apple.

I think that they need to do a little more with their hardware above all else. Seems Apple are kind of slipping in that area. For one thing, the mighty mouse is great, but only when it works - it just needs improving.

I have a brand new laptop with Vista on it right beside me. I'm not that impressed. I very strongly prefer OS X. It could use a little more color though maybe.

My biggest complaint with OS X is the handling of file copies from networks. I've had to reboot several times because a mounted drive went unavailable while copying a file and it froze the whole system. That's just absurd. They've got to do something about that.
The way it assigns (overrides) applications to open files at its own will is bothering as well. If I specify Xee or Preview to open a .jpg file, even if it was once edited in photoshop, I don't want photoshop to open it. Nothing I do with preferences solves this (by default) I have to specify which app to open it every time. Stubborn OS.

With my limited few years of experience those are my only real complaints with the OS.

Oh, I'd like it if they made the USB pen drives work like additional RAM. That's a pretty slick feature, if you ask me.
