Until iOS lets the user lock out access to certain apps such as Mail, iCloud files, etc.. what good is an iPad left out for all to use? you can keep your mind out of the gutter everyone still has info and access they don't want others fiddling with, would you really want your 7 yr old sending out emails to your contact book?
its about time we had a multi-user profile start page.
Memory I guess is the issue but surely we have the ability these days to set up a basic "Guest" account with very limited space and abilities?

A Log Out option on the notification or lock screen.
Or recognise the user based on their fingerprint or facial recognition.
The owner controlling the access offered to others or setting them up.

Same reason they have never offered multiple users on iPadOS the way they have for years on the Mac: they expect you to buy a whole separate device.

Too bad they didn’t see the importance of this back when they had iTunes and iDVD, iPhoto, etc… all integrated into Front row with the magic remote… instead they listened to the wall street parasites they have let infiltrate their C-Suite… and moved the crap products like Apple Music, etc.... what a joke and another boat Apple missed at being the leader and innovator of the smart home media and entertainment and automation standards… the fools!

It would be great if they could make this work with existing models too. I would love to use my iPad Mini this way as a nightstand clock.
I just hope It won’t cost more than a homepod mini, which is $99.
It will be neat to have a HomePod as the docking station and having the option to listen through its speakers,Meitner you Apple Music or whatever is on your iPad mini screen.

Have you ever noticed how with Apple, every feature or product that we all know should and could have already been released, is always rumored to be coming a few years out?

An iPad mount with a speaker? This could have been released from Apple years ago. But google does it and suddenly there’s a “rumor” about Apple working on one? What a joke.

I can no longer muster the slightest excitement for things that are otherwise completely not exciting apart from the fact that “it’s apple”.

Apple has turned into one of, if not the most, boring tech companies out there. I’m literally about one more article like this away from taking all Apple related tech sites off my favorites. There’s really no point in following this stuff. Apple does nothing new.

I should just follow Samsung, google, Microsoft news, and for anything they do that is really successful, I can add on 2-3 years and know that’s about when Apple will do their version.

In fact, did we ever consider that’s where these sources have been getting their “leaks” all along???!

This is good. I don’t want my older iPad to become useless when I buy a new one. In fact, I won’t buy another one until they become useful for longer.
Apple read your comment and they have decided to make the iPad dock only compatible with their next generation of iPad. Tim crunched the numbers, and this way makes more money, even if you don’t buy one.

I’ll go one step further. It will only be an option for the next-gen iPad Pro, so you’ll not only have to pay a premium for the iPad, but most likely for a stand with a high-quality speaker as well. You’ll have a combo that will cost at least double compared to a home hub with a screen from Google or Amazon.

No different than now, is it? If you are in a family, some devices like an ipad probably get shared around, unless you buy an ipad for each family members.

Thus the need for ipadOS to support multiple users ala macOS, and why Apple has not done so. 😅
