Apple makes great products but terrible commercials. I can’t do that cringe inducing “dancing”
Looking at the subject, the ear pods and the spazzed out young woman wearing them, was boring, so I began looking at the details of the the fake multicullty city. The uncreative graffiti painted on second stories of busy streets so we can see it in background (but not on closed roller doors of shops at night), the goods left on display at night in front of shuttered shops, the 3rd world oddities (man carrying bird cage in street), the ancient bus which requires no payment...

Is your city an unexceptional, demoralizing dump like this one? Save yourself with some expensive AirPods and forgettable music!

I am on the fence about the AirPods Pro. I hope folks who have them can share some insight.

First, I am not crazy about the look. It still reminds me of the scene in Meet the Fockers... you know which scene 😆 They do look a little more compact now, which is good.

Second, I have the latest Beats Studios 3 and love them -- just wish they had USB-C charging or at least lighting port. The sounds is great, noise canceling is great. I also have the last generation of PowerBeats. They are... meh, not the best. Good sound, but not as comfortable.

So, in terms of sound quality -- which is closer? The Beats Studio 3 or the PowerBeats when compared to the AirPods Pro? How is the noise cancelling? I would love to have a lighter and smaller set to travel with instead of the Studios. Sure, they sound great, but they are bulky and taking them off to listen to announcements is a pain, too, when you're pulling luggage.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Has anybody tried these while mowing the lawn, leaf blowing, etc.? Do they seal well enough to block noises like those?

I got the firmware update, and my AirPods Pro noise cancellation works great. Not sure what all the hubbub is. Guess it’s cool to complain.
While forums like this do tend to attract a lot of complaints, the decrease in the quality of active noise cancellation from initial to current firmware was dramatic, especially if you use the Pros in an urban setting or on mass transit. And customers who paid a premium for a "Pro" product and noticed a decline in its quality have every right to share that observation.

I don’t have these but I have beats studio 3 and I use them sometimes. They don’t block the noise as well as proper over the ear protection. Probably about 70% as good as proper earmuffs. I only use them when I’m in the mood to listen to stuff while I work

the Sony WH-1000XM3 is the 3rd generation award winning over the ear stereo headphones with ANC. The Sony WF-1000XM3’s are the in-ear ANC true wireless stereo earphones ;)

this a direct comparison as they debuted late spring 2019.

Ah my mistake — I thought that was the model number for the over ear kind. I even Googled it, but obviously the results were wrong! I’d love if Sony would adopt non-alphabet soup names for their headphones ;)

I hear that, lol!

WF I think means wireless freedom, WH wireless headset.

Sony has made a huge boatload off headphones over the years, having a normal model name like AirPods you’d eventually run out of ideas for names.

hoping for a slightly smaller size (in volume) with sweat resistance this spring or summer.

You guessed wrong. You just have abysmal expectations
Guess it’s also cool to insult people just because they have different experiences than you do.

I agree with you, people do have the right to call out companies when there are legit issues with products.

Maybe I am just reaching my limit of hearing people whine with conspiracy theories that make it sound as though Apple, or any other company, does things maliciously. What I’m trying to say is what some other people are saying, which is that maybe this drop in quality is not universal across every set of AirPods Pro, and is perhaps affecting only a percentage of people who received the update. I have had various Bose noise canceling headphones since they came out, and I am familiar with what good noise cancellation sounds like. The noise cancellation on my particular pair of AirPods Pro is so good that every time I put them on in the car, while I am driving, it feels as though the engine has suddenly died and it startles me for a second. And there are times where I feel like it is so effective, it may be hindering my ability to react while driving, so I turn it to transparency mode. It is a bummer that noise cancellation seems to be reduced for certain people, but that’s just not the case for me.

Apologies if you feel insulted 🤣, but you were whining about people that had different and higher expectations.

Wow, please do not use your Airpods Pro while you are driving. Maybe you are one of the reasons that Apple lowered the ANC intensity.

It's lovely that you don't experience it. But many do. Read about people's less than stellar experiences with the APP on the newest firmware from different forums and places. It is a common thread.

I didn't feel insulted, I just called you out for your need to stoop to insults. There's a difference. You'd like to think your expectations are higher, that would justify your smugness. I expect a lot from my AirPods Pro, and I'm getting it. I'm just lucky, and apparently you're not. If you read my original post I wasn't whining about anything––more like calling out the whiners. But if it helps you not feel so maligned, let me clarify: there's nothing wrong with people calling Apple out if there's a bug or bad functionality. But when people clog these boards by assigning sinister motives and conspiracies to everything that Apple does, it gets cliche and tiresome. If your complaints are legit, then there's no reason for you to be so chuffed.
