Expect to be laughed at.
I was reading some threads on MR from 2014 just to have a laugh.
“You'd have to be a real tool to wear that thing. Fugly.”
“Did they promote the designer of the iphone 5c. People wont buy this with a beats logo”
“I don t understand why they think people want a watch who's display is always off and hard to read in direct sunlight...”

So much money they invested on this crap that could have made sapphire iPhone with liquid metal or maybe a Retina iMac etc.

Why you have to follow the followers Apple...?

we miss you Steve!”
“One of the reasons why the Samsung watch flopped was that it was just too expensive, and this crap thing is even more expensive.”

Not saying that the Vision Pro will be a day one success, or even a success at all, but within two years of all these comments, that product they were bashing in 2014 was the best selling watch on the market and all those people bashing it no doubt already had one.

The AirPods turn around was even quicker.

TRIGGER ALERT: POSSIBLE CONTROVERSY REGARDING GENDER NORM ASSUMPTIONS: Interesting that most of the marketing photos have women wearing the VP. The main model for the device is a lady. On the Apple scroll feature on the website, there's one guy wearing a VP at work, but three lady models, and the ladies in these two photos here. Did Apple Marketing Department find that women have the highest interest in this new technology? Or is it a matter of counter-marketing to try and get anybody other than fanboy nerds interested in this thing?

And snide comments start... NOW!
Lets make a pact to ignore this post.

I can’t imagine they can stop endless third party larger batteries

I agree and even expect "improved" batteries from outlets like OWC but here's a guess: I wonder if the choice of battery reflects the MAX stand-alone battery capacity to get onto airplanes. Else, why not just go iPhone PRO MAX size as all battery to easily address the "only 2 hours" whine for what would probably cost maybe a dollar or three more per unit? Or maybe even a MB-like battery slab for much greater battery one could carry in a laptop bag?

That's wild guess- I don't know- but there's probably SOME reason why Apple chose this battery size vs. knowing this would be a point of great whine from those who would react with pessimism about the product in general. While I would typically assume it's Apple being cheap (to maximize profit), battery costs are not substantial, so going from this one to one with a little more oomph would likely not be more than a few dollars on Apple's scales.

It has to fit into your pocket comfortably. If it gets too big it won’t fit in many pockets and will make you have to wear a belt to keep your pants from falling down. Everything in engineering is trade offs.

They can easily block third party battery packs with some kind of controller.

And then in 10 years the EU will come to the rescue and mandate standardized battery packs. But not until Apple made a ridiculous amount of money.

iPhone PRO MAX is bigger and fits in a pocket. If this is the only reason, this battery could have been PRO MAX size but all battery. I think there must be another reason.

Give the original iPod launch thread a read. And it was rolled out by the lord Jobs himself. It is not collective opinion & imagination building for MONTHS before launch but upon actual launch, when it was shown and became obvious what it could do.

I’m not sure how tall you are, but a Pro Max does not fit comfortably into my pockets. One of the reasons I don’t have one. The battery pack is also estimated to be heavier than a pro max by people who have used it, so….

Apple warns that the Vision Pro should obviously not be used while operating a moving vehicle.

Does it actually say “obviously”? I hope so.

And yeah WTF Apple people have been begging for multi-user or at least guest mode on iPad for YEARS. This would also be extremely handy on the iPhone. I know we have “guided access” but that’s a lot to go through just to let a kid or friend use your phone for one purpose for a few minutes.

100%. This is an awfully expensive gadget to bring on a plane for 2 hours of use. Even a 2 hour flight is 4 hours or more of "travel"... I don't even like bringing my good books on trips, I'm sure as hell not going to travel with 3 mortgage payments worth of early-adopter jewelry.

This will be fun. Now, in addition to the person who carries on a 3 course meal and proceeds to have themselves a little airplane picnic, we'll have the folks who open the overhead bins mid flight to take out a ditty bag of VisionPro gear... and then ask you to move again, so they can stuff it all away 2 hours later.
I simply don't understand this complaint.

In 1994, I bought a PowerBook G3 at what would be $7000 today. I traveled with it all the time, using it on airplanes.

People buy MacBook Pros today that cost the equivalent of the AVP. Nobody thinks twice about that.

It's remarkable how many people in this thread have never heard about power outlets. It's been a thing for a while.

They need something to complain about and to knock the Vision Pro to make themselves feel better.

They’ll be complaining here in the comments even after release and I’ll be busy not reading them while I’m wearing my Vision Pro 😊

Something like 2/3 of people need corrective lenses. Take away people who wear contacts and those who can see sharply at ~6 feet anyway (I can't even though I'm far-sighted, my eyes are too different), and that's still a huge fraction of the population.

It's nice that guest mode exists, but I'm really surprised Apple prioritized it as a launch feature. It's going to be awkward or unusable in so many cases.

I understand your PowerBook comparison from a cost/travel point of view. It make sense. But the G4 Powerbook isn't an equivalent comparison from an early adopter standpoint, it was preceded by the G3, and the iBook. People were putting laptops on tray tables long before you traveled with your G4 PowerPook.

My mistake. I meant the PowerBook G3 that I bought in 1994.

Purchasing at 5 am on the 19th. I am very excited to enter the new world of spatial computing. Hope to get it on Feb 2 and use it on my 5 hour flight on Feb 4 (and yes it has seat power-outlets). Planning on using it for productivity and entertainment on the flight. I will likely take along my thin & light Apple keyboard for extended work on a chapter I am writing. I could not be more ready for this future to arrive.

I'm assuming spare batteries are a guaranteed launch-day accessory, would be madness if they weren't available.
